What is with all these know-it-alls claiming Ferry was a bad choice for MXoN. There were people calling for his head today when he went down on the start, WTF. Nobody was out to lynch RC when he went down yet the result was the same. Dead last into contention. Ferry went down and Emig was quick to point out that he was confident that Ferry would work back into the top 5, which he did.
His ability and fitness showed which people have been doubting for weeks, all because he didn't win the championship. These same people will be online kissing his ass now, you watch. Give the guy his credit.

He did as he needed to help USA win.

The question was simply, after his recent results, was he the best man for the job ?

Tim Ferry, is one of the strongest riders, but after his last few motos, it was asked, should have Alessi been the one to go ?

However, the reasoning behing the Ferry dicision, was that Kawasaki was already in the mix, and the bikes were being prepared (F.I.M. has a few different rules).
So the Obvious choice was Tim Ferry, and the Monster/Kawasaki.

Now...if Ferry got the starts of Mike Alessi...there would be zero questions asked.

My opinion

this sport is just as much mental toughness as compared to physical and ability. Alessi is not mentally tough, he has proven that. All the more reason Ferry deserved to go, results aside.

I feel Ferry did a better job, than what Alessi could have provided.

He (Ferry) did go 1-1 in the MX3/Open class. Can't do better than that !

Mike Alessi, thinks he is mentally ready, but I agree with you...he isn't. However, he is young, and has a few more years to prove himself.

The only other man I would have thought to be a good choice, is Kevin Windham.

are you feeling OK? We agree on something? I feel that is what people seem to forget, results are good baselines, but being mentaly preparred for something like this, you can't put a price on it. It's like that veteran closer in the 9th inning of the world series, or that vet kicker from the 40 in the superbowl Alessi will have his time. How much is the question, there are some newbee's knocking on the door that might steal a bit of it.

Feeling okay ?
No...I bumped my head this week end, drank too much, was hit by a train, and tripped over the cat !

When you speak of \"Newbies\" coming up, to race against Alessi, I see Ben Townley, as a threat, and Ivan Tedesco, both on a Honda. (providing Tedesco steps out of his slump)

Maybe Stewart, will be there, most of the time...maybe even a whole season next year.

Then there is the new KTM squad, Nick Wey, Joaquim Rodrigues, and Martin Davalos (outdoors only)...and who knows where Gavin Gracyk, will be, or Kevin Windham.

Baseball, Football ?
Couldn't tell ya' where, what, or when. Been doing this (motocross/off road) for all of my fifty years.

All I can say is...I will be at five, or six, Supercross races next year, two, or more, Motocross races, and I can't wait for either.

Yes my friend...we agree, alert the media !

I meant newbies referring to Stroupe and company and any other Loretta graduates. Some of these guys have the potential to steal Alessi's glory in a few years.

True that...

To me, these guys are going so fast nowadays, that when they crash, each, and everyone, gets hurt. Gotta' keep the rubber side down.

Timmy did awesome at Budds Creek.

Not sure if you saw the quote in this week's Buzz, where he said that he'd been getting great starts all year, but had made some changes to the bike near the end of the season, and had gone the wrong way. He didn't try and lay the blame on anyone but himself, and went out an did his job at Budds.

that makes sense about his starts getting bad towards the end of the season...and the best part about the race was that even if lames had been able to ride he may have won his motos, but he couldnt have done any better than ferry with the mx3 overall...
