DB and the Leatt brace

I have been shocked into action by David Bailey.
I think in ten years time we will talk about this day and how it was where and when we turned the corner on safety in our sport.

This being said I went to the Leatt website and started looking at the models. I'm going to get a brace.
But I have questions about them:
Club, Sport or Pro?
Carbon strength vs. weight?
Moto GPX vs. Moto R?
I was hoping to check VitalMX's product section for more info.
But there is nothing in the neck protection tab/section.
GuyB I know you are busy but, it sure would be nice if you could get something from Leatt and something from someone who has used the various models and maybe even EVS as they have a neck brace that looks like the Leatt.
This will be a fairly major purchase (and not only monetarily). I just don't want to screw this up.

I can answer one for sure. You want the Moto GPX. The R is designed for auto racing.

As you said, the biggest difference between the three models is the material (more carbon fiber the higher you go in price). As far as I know, the strength should be the same. It is possible to break pieces of them in a crash, but that's by design...you know, similar to how a helmet self-destructs to prevent you from spraining your brain.

That's why I'd expect that you wouldn't want to substantially change the strength of the components between the different models.

I just want to say thanks for doing the video with d/b and your commitment to MX. I have always been very safety conscience about riding in the proper gear for myself, but it time for me to speak up and make sure the people around me are safe as well.

I think the Leatt brace and or a chest proctector should be mandatory gear at any level of mx racing just like the helmet!

true that but its a pain in the a** to cut the dang chest protector.....the gear companies need to come up with better designs to make the leatt and other neck support systems fit better

I removed the shoulder cups and strap on my fox chest protector then replaced them with leather straps crafted from an old belt. So far I like it, and it prevents the chest protector from binding with the Leatt regardless of the position of your arms.

What level are people running the front and rear members of the Leatt? I am in the middle for both right now, but the front seemed a little high.

first lap of sunday practice at washougal i saw stewart wearing what looked like a all white leatt. but by the 2nd lap he had taken it off...good to see him giving it a shot.

I think HRP makes a Flak Jak model that is compatible with the Leat Brace...
