Malcolm (I call him Mubba) looked awesome on the KX250, he always seemed to run upfront (although it didn't seem like he gapped the field too much) and it didn't look like the bike was hindering him in any way. In the 450 class last week he apparently ran away from the pack, but struggled on the lites bike. In the video posted here just a while back he was wringing it out Barcia style.
He's a bigger guy so it made more sense to choose to the 2 stroke. But I assume big James has put him on the 250F for two reasons:
1: He is sponsored and they won't allow him to ride the "outdated" bike.
2: Big James is preparing him for the lites class when he goes pro, and he obviously won't be able to just jump into the big bike class. When he turns pro and races lites he won't have a choice, so it's a smart move to put him on the 250F sooner better than later.
So for a bigger guy like Malcolm, going pro is going to possibly be a disadvantage as he will be forced to ride the 250F when he is better suited to riding the 250 two stroke. Or so it seems from the videos I've seen.
I just wonder how many other bigger guys will win the amateurs easily on the two stroke, then turn pro and struggle to win a race on a lites bike against the smaller riders.

But what's all this talk about him being big? He's not tall or round, although he certainly gives up probably 30ish lbs to that kid Zimmer. But I don't see Ryan Sipes and other taller riders suffering much from size problems, they aren't racing 125s. As long as "Mubba" doesn't show up outdoors with his gut hanging over the gas tank I don't think it'll be an issue.
MS is good and fast, but so is every other kid at the top of the A class. I don't see him as a break-out rider like Wilson, Bagget, or Barcia, he just hasn't shown that kind of results at nationals and local races. He will certainly be able to score points, but I get the imperssion people think he's going to be the next JSE or something. I just don't think from watching him that Malcolm has that kind of dream for himself.
