Cheers. The extra time and effort I put into the hub has paid off. The brake plate is all done so when fitted together it should look good. The rear wheel is next for stripping down. Just need the sprocket, nuts and bolts to buy. The chain was originally black but that's one of the last things I'll get.

Without going as far as replating it, a good dip in white spirit followed by a clean with metal polish hasn't done 3 bad. The swing arm pivot or axle will need stripping and replating. Saying that if I replate the swing arm pivot I may as well replate both wheel axles while I'm at it.

Your patience in getting stuff done'right' instead of just 'done' is unreal.

Mine is on the backburner now for a few weeks, trying to find a tank, as my 125 one isnt quite right, will look at getting some brackets made if i have to .

I'm just chipping away like the Shawshank redemption lol. Is your tank a Clark? I know there's a plastic RM400 tank for sale but I've no idea if it fits or if its a bit big for what you want.

No , its off a 400, he had an RM400 as well, and he had the wrong tanks on them, that had the Clarke RM465 tank on it, but he said otherwise.

So instead of him getting the tank back that fits the bike he has, i will sell it and keep the money.

Well a good undamaged swing arm will cost you about £350 + postage from the USA and maybe £200 for a single undamaged casing. When these came up I didn't think twice. Even though the left casing was NOS it still had damage and it was doing my head in knowing it. I'm getting that OCD about it I'm starting to look for a 5 speed box lol

Once you start, you cant stop. Its like polishing a frame, once you do one bit, you have to do the rest.

I am at the point where i am not restoring plastics that i know will have stickers over them.

Well I've just got the last new cable, a Venhill clutch cable, a NOS pair of rear wheel spacers or washer-chain-adjust-guide for the 81 model X, part number 64712-1420, my others were chewed up to hell, and a complete engine gasket set by VMX.

Tell me about it. Getting the rear tyre removed tomorrow and hopefully by tomorrow night or tonight, I'll have the hub stripped down. I want that away and rebuilt this month. Next month its a boat load of stuff from CMS including the sprocket and my frame repainted. I'm having mine stove enamelled, I'm not going with powder coat for this one. Should take a week or 2 for the casings to arrive from the USA so I'll probably start breaking down the engine starting with the exhaust and inlet manifolds. I'm getting new screws for the clutch cover, going take that down to the metal.

I am hoping to pick up a few parts at the show this weekend, if the weather holds, and then out riding for the first time on sunday if its dry enough.

Ew, Venhill cables. I found a local company that builds HVAC equipment that is happy to build ours for us. I've always had a fitment issue with at least one cable on any order I've placed with Venhill, and their customer service is really awful. I cannot put in to words how awful Venhill's customer service is.

Well that doesn't sound promising, sorry to hear about that.  I'll have to see how things go when I start putting everything together. My gasket set just arrived this morning and it's going to take about 2 weeks for the fresh casings to arrive. Done a bit of painting this morning and the temperature is dropping. Looks like we're going to have snow shortly. 🇬🇧

Rear tyre is off so I'll strip the wheel tomorrow after I take the offset measurement.  Then it's bearings and paint before I box it up for building.  Still working on the swing arm but it's getting there.

I am pretty sure it was that and a plug spanner.  Maybe a spoke key too.

I was talking to a guy with an Ebay bike spares shop and he said have a look at my owners manual. He said there may be something in that. I'll have to dig it out, I put it in one of 12 storage boxes in the shed.

I'll be adding a front sprocket cover to my list, there's quite a few still out there. There isn't however the attached chain guide or spacers.  Now there are 2 chain guides for the model X, one has 3 holes. If I could find one I could have a few made. The spacers can also be made.

The Eagle has landed...Found the chain guide for the front sprocket from a shop in Canada 🍁.  Wasn't cheap either. Going to ask my buddy who made my chain rollers to make me a few spacers for it 8.6x16x24. I'll get the original bolts from CMSNL,  the Ebay guy wants over £15 for 2.

The swing arm chain buffer has cleaned up rather well. A shiney new nut, bolt and washer should present it quite well on the swing arm. Before and after.

Crooks Suzuki have for sale '10' NOS swing arm buffers for £25 each. I think I'll be getting one of those. There's 2 other NOS buffers on for £80 each.

Purchased a NOS swing arm buffer from Crooks this morning. If there's any left in a couple of weeks I'll probably buy another, especially for £30 including delivery.  It's handy having a spare. Saying that with this old thing anything spare is handy.

Had a word with Paul from ONSengineering2017 regarding spacers for the front sprocket chain guide and cover, so he's going to make me some of those. The guide should be leaving Canada shortly and my pair of engine cases Landed in London on the 10th. They're with USPS so should be here in a couple of days.

My sprocket cover spacers have just been made and they look very nice. If you need a pair, contact Paul on the below Ebay handle, I'm sure he can make you a pair in no time at all.

I've got the warning decal set for the forks, wheels, shock reservoir and tank. I'll be scanning these once I've got them incase I need anymore.
