123.jpeg?VersionId=x8i8QgwI finally got replace a bunch of things on my bike. clutch and brake rebuild and new rfx levers, fuel pump, sprockets and chain, wheel bearings, tires and a lot more, so i decided to give it a refresh on the outside as well.

My problem is that even though i will polish the engine cases and replace hoses, covers etc, i cant get my bolts to look like new, i tried with a dremel and wire, they get pretty clean, but they will go dull after a ride and become rusty again after a wash so i thought maybe its time to replace all of them with new ones. (i have a few missing too from the fairings) Thats where a couple of questions come to my head.

1. Is this generally a bad idea? I am wondering because i am afraid other problems will emerge as i unbolt these screws, it's not that the bike is in bad condition its just that i am worried that i will find other problems while doing it. I am thinking like this because i already fixed damaged threads on the case where the oil filter cover goes. What is your opinion on this?

2. Should i order all new gaskets if i decide to go for it?

Lastly, is there a website that shows all the different kinds and lengths of these bolts for this specific bike? If i go for it i think i will go ahead and get all custom paint titanium bolts i just need to know all the details about each screw length, head etc.

Thanks a lot for reading!

KTM OE bolts suck aesthetically, the coating is a little shitty. Wire wheeling it off just makes it worse, it's just bare steel then.

Most all bolts are just standard pitch metric thread, M4, M5, M6 for most external engine bolts but a few M8 and maybe M10 for bigger stuff like engine mounts.

The owners manual, downloadable free from the KTM website, gives a lot of the thread size and pitch and sometimes even lengths, or you can just whip.one out and meausre...

That way you can get your own alternatives or you can go to Specbolt or someone else for better than OE.

Save your headache and contact Bolt co. or Specbolt. They’ll have a kit with every single bolt you need and nothing you don’t done up in a nice nickel finish.
