Here in East TN, snow coming down at rate of 5" an hour!!! expecting up to 10" before 7:00 Saturday evening. Just a few miles east of me in the North Carolina Mts. they are expecting 12==20". This snow storm is packing a punch for the East Coast. Me and my little S-10 pick-up (2WD) made it home just before the heavy stuff hit. Been alot of accidents around my area, one already with a fatality. Heck, even the Johnson City Mall. (27 miles NE of me) CLOSED at 6:00!!! People around the area are freaking out, you would think they never saw snow before. Gonna pull a chair up to the big window, put on some music and just watch the winter wonderland form.

We got tons of snow last week.

I can see from here, but I don't have to live in it.

It's the perfect situation.

Temps in the high 70s down here, and if I want to play in the snow, I can be there in an hour.

About 25 minutes from my house and I'm in winter wonderland up here in NW Washington. It's cold at my house though, about 46 for the high today. I'm right at the foot hills of the Cascades.

Gonna heat up the next couple of days, too!

Where else in America can you get a snow board and a surf board for Christmas, and try them both out on Christmas day?

...And only drive a couple of hours, round-trip?

Cool

I thought I would never leave California, but I did and am so happy I did. No offense, I love to visit and 99% of my family lives there. But I got Oregonized, and love it up here.

Yeah, I had to wear a jacket in the morning for a few days straight.

Even saw frost on the roofs one morning.

I think the trick to surviving Southern California cold, is to stay in bed 'til 10:00 or so.

It's been warm here the past 3-4 days getting up into the high 40's, so a lot of our snow has been melting.

The red x is where my house is.

There is draw backs, I've been snowed in for a week.

I only got out yesterday and that was on my quad.

That looks either like Sunset in Huntington Beach or like Sunrise in Saigon.

I'd say we're at about 15 inches right now and no sign of letting up. It's gonna be a while before I do any roosting.

Today is the day everyone has been waiting for!

60 + inches was the total from our last storm, and conditions are phenomenal! Don’t miss out on the fresh powder and our nicely groomed trails! Mammoth currently has 12 open lifts and is planning to open Canyon and Eagle Lodge by Wednesday and have the rest of the mountain open by Friday!

The 2pm temp at Main Lodge was 31 degrees with 8 mph winds. Up at the summit, the temp was 18 degrees. Lifts are open daily from 8:30am to 4pm, wind and weather permitting. Remember that obstacles do exist so please ride with caution.
