Hello all. I grew up racing local off-road races, winning a few championships and eventually racing the pro class. I then moved on to hard enduro and endurocross and had some success with that before injuries and work/life balance took me out of action around 2018. Now, I’m getting the itch to fulfill one of my life goals, just to make it to Loretta’s.
From what I understand I will be legal to race +30 next year as it’s based on your age as of the National, and I will be 30 before then (I would be 29 during the area qualifiers - please correct me if my understanding of the rules is incorrect). I currently have a ‘22 KTM 300 XC-W, which I know is not going to cut it in moto, as fun as it is. I’d prefer to stay on a KTM or GasGas, as the dealer network here in Texas is much more friendly to Austrian jockeys. I’m a big boy, 6’2” and around 260 pounds. Hoping to drop some of that extra weight.
I’ll welcome any advice from the community about what bike to choose, how to start training (Masterpool’s 956 facility is less than an hour from me so I plan on taking advantage of that), and any other tips for a first timer.

Did you used to have a YouTube channel? I think I remember someone with that logo doing Endurocross videos.
Good luck with LL's!
Yes I did. I’m a professional videographer so I did some endurocross videos of the pro class in between my own races.
+30 class is a sportsman class but the dudes are fast as hell. Ride the roughest rutted tracks you can find. You are in my area and the areas and regional tracks end up destroyed(and obviously LL does too). I’d make sure you can ride almost max ability for 20 mins. Train at 20 min moto sprints. Area is 5 laps, but regional is 15 mins motos three times.
Whatever you are thinking the track to be like just expect it to be ten fold worse at each race.
