I just found out about this event and am looking into making the trek. Any insider info from guys who have raced it before? I checked out the results from last year and it looks like it gets a pretty good turnout. How long are the motos?
I race it every year, the turnout is getting crazy with full gates with sometimes qualifiers. I'd recommend coming on Friday and doing the practice to get the track down. If you're a late moto, you WON'T BELIEVE how rough the track is. Good luck, have fun
Sounds like a good time. We're gonna try to rent a camper and get there Thursday evening so long as it's open.
I also race Vet Fest every year. Standard 4 laps, two moto format. Fast guys get 5 laps. Awesome turn out and a great time. Just a bunch of people who want to have a great time and spin some laps. Much more laid back then a normal race weekend. I believe in the past they dont let you arrive until Friday but I could be wrong on that.
A few years ago they had so many riders they ran out of transponders!
Friday practice is usually 3 sessions but you can sign up for multiple practice classes (18+, 30+ etc) so you can spin some more laps.
This year they do have ATV D14 state championship race on Sunday so it may be more busy then normal.
Do not, and I repeat, do not skip the friday night steak dinner!
Yes, I have raced this event the last couple of years including the year they ran out of transponders. Best race weekend I have ever attended. I have moved further away but will still make the 11 hour drive for it.
Arriving Thursday night is a must, I think they usually open the gates at 4pm.
