You skipped my last post huh? lol I will be. Maybe tomorrow. I do see the appeal to this needle and would like to get it sorted. I think for right now I might just go back to stock since I'm about to have my head milled (or buy a new one) and get a pipe and it would be nice to be on the stock settings so I have the most "light in the dark" if any of this throws the bike off. I'll at least be on something that should be remediable quickly.

I just helped my buddy set his bike up and he ended up with an NEDJ needle with clip in second position, 170 main and 42 pilot. He said bike is still rich. He's also in Denver though so you'll probably need to be a bit richer then that but just for reference.

Cobbler, I have been following along here feeling like I am reading my own life story. I have nothing else to add but hope you get it dialed.

Check your float height, run jet cleaner through your jets make sure they aren't clogged.

Check the flywheel side crank seal for any leakage.

Did you follow the whole thread? It was running great. Top notch. I tried a new setting based around the suzuki NECJ needle that people rave about. It runs great-ish just the bog off idle. So it was running great and still is and I anticipate it will be again when I go back to stock.

How would you inspect those seals? Just pull the FW and stator and have a look?

Cobbler - If Digger set you up with specs I would make sure & get all the facts behind it:

-what is his elevation & riding temp + humidity level?

-what mods did he do to his bike?

-what gas does he run?

If he has yz250 with a raised exhaust port, the squish band cut to .035, straight c12, VF3 reeds, a pc pipe & shorty silencer racing in 50* temps on the top of a mountain his specs are going to be just a liiiiiiiiiiittle bit different than yours 😉 Hell if ran u4.4 those specs would change too. Now I’ve read his posts & he knows what he is talking about plus you’re a smart guy so I’m sure this has all been covered😎

That being said, you are lean. Everything you did was a step in the LEAN direction:

NECJ Needle - leaner than N3EW

third clip - leaner than 2nd clip

170 Main - leaner than 178

42 Pilot - leaner than 50

40 Power Jet - leaner than 50

Go back to the stock stuff. It works, you know it works. It you want to tinker, cool go tinker but do it in smaller increments next time & save the headache.

Lessons learned:

1-change one thing at a time

2-if it ain’t broke, don’t try to blow it 😉
