Anyone watching Sebring?

Yeah, watched the 1000 wec on Friday too. 
that place is dangerous as hell , why they can’t throw up some musco lights .

also watched 4 hrs of Nurburgring that runs on the nordschleife circuit, found it few yrs ago and don’t miss a race, 15 mile lap  starting 150 cars. The 24 hr one or any that go into night are great. Always several in car cameras streaming and get in a dark room with big screen ride along . Make your butthole pucker. 

Racer's like this place because it's old school, and tough as hell.

Still watching the last 3hrs via DVR. 

12 hrs of Sebring with 6hrs of commercials. 

A few laps of racing in between feel good stories, and network programming promotions.

Then another block of the same commercials over, and over, and...

Here is nurburgring channel, the 12 and 24 hrs races later in yr will start 3 groups of 50 ,gt3 being fastest and tcr  fwd being slowest. One group brings out a opel manx . The fast cars will lap or pass 30 to 40 cars a lap. It is insane. No full course yellows ,it done with slow zones. Something le mans should do  cause they fuck the race ever yr with the 3 car full course yellow.

I watched 12hrs and some of the wec 1000 miles. 12 hrs was wild, I think only 2 gtp cars finished on account of the last big crash. 

As one who has been on teams competing at the Daytona 24hr and the Sebring 12hr and the LeMans 24hr, I can tell you that Sebring is a much tougher race than the other two, even though it is half-distance. I was on the TWR Jaguar team that won at Daytona and LeMans, but the best we ever did at Sebring was second place.

It's also why Indycar likes to test there. If a car doesn't break on that track, you're good to go anywhere else.

Seeing a Cadillac win and the BMW second on Saturday is very gratifying to me, as the company I am currently with builds both.

Also the Ferrari that was on pole and finished 3rd in the WEC race (it's first racing appearance) is one of ours too.

Holy shit, you and I could sit for hours talking about sports car racing.

My first job in motor racing was with the TWR Castrol Jaguar IMSA GTP team in 1989.

I was the Procurements Manager there, but I wanted to go to races, so when one of the guys that did the fuel on pitstops left at the end of '89, I volunteered.

They sent me to Del Mar for the last race in 1989 to help with pit set-up and logistics. We won that race.

Then my first race on the actual pit crew was the 1990 Daytona 24. The car I was assigned to won, our other car finished 2nd, so we had a 1-2 at Daytona in my first race.

It was all downhill after that

Actually, the car that won Daytona was then prepped for LeMans. The TWR English team entered 3 cars, and we painted ours in Silk Cut colors like theirs, and our car won LeMans 1990 while theirs all had mechanical issues. Martin Brundle was the lead driver in one of the other cars, but they stuck him in ours when his went out so that they could have a Brit in the winning car.

Pretty sure one of Silk Cut Jaguars is in the Coventry Transport Museum , in the centre of town here. 

Unlike you i never got to go to races, and was happy i didnt, while it was a blast, at the time i was too in to my own racing to quit, and got to travel a lot with that , which i preffered. 

Love sports cars, i worked on the AMR1 that never made the track after it got canned, when i was at Ilmor, got to go 1-2 in the Daytona 500 and win the Indy 500 in the same year, although to be fair , we couldnt not win seeing as we did all the engines. And while we didnt to much on the Nascar motors, we did enough that year to get a little bit extra out of them to make a difference. 

Best thing i ever saw and heard was a Panoz at Donington Park when we were setting up for a Supoerbike race weekend there, that was awesome. 

I try to watch Sebring , Bathurst and Nurburgring if i can , and Le Mans if we are going to be at home, plan on going back to the Nordschliefe to see the 24 Touring car race, and camping in the woods, with some of my german race buddies. 

But a Le Mans win , that is seriously cool , especially with such an iconic car . 

Isn’t Sebring notoriously hard on gear-boxes/drive-trains? 

When I was a kid, the Long Beach Grand Prix was know for eating gearboxes and the bottom of the car.

If I’m still here next race at nordschleife I’ll alert y’all, tommy Kendall won 24 hr race there way back when they started 250 cars 

it was built pre hitler , the pictures of the 1930s silver arrows auto union cars taken at the concrete carisale turn which is still part of the track , it so fricken cool 

Jackie Stewart called it the green hell and you can go thru week pay a fee and hold it flat , videos on YouTube of people crashing their street cars . Sabine smidt grew up there and got good at driving “taxis” around it

amyways, I watch ever series of sport car racing there is like a crack addic , gt open is a great one , the doctor Rossi drove in it all last year

The Chicago Auto Show was the week after the Daytona 24 hr. Jaguar wanted the car just as it came off the track after 24 hours, no clean-up or anything. Here's a pic I took.

 Here is the 1990 LeMans winner before it went over to Europe

This is from 1991, when we became the Bud Light Jaguar team. Pre-Daytona in our shop. The car in the front is the V6 Turbo car which we ran in the sprint races. The two V12's prepped for Daytona right behind it.
