Any one here raced this series across Montana? I will be headed to Big Sandy on May 7th for the first round and was wondering what to expect. Let me know if anything specific stuck out to you in your past races! Thanks again!

Hello,

I will be running this series this year.

Any recommendations or anything you learned from running the event?

I recently moved back to Montana from Utah

It’s an awesome series, what class are you racing? That will help with what advice I give.

Hello,

Most likely 250B or Open C

I haven't rode enduro style single track in about a year and a half.

Been competing in the worcs racing series and usra in Utah.

This made me switch to desert style riding with a lot of training days in the desert.

Not sure how your bike is set up but if you have talk gearing you may want to change that, other that that a skid plate and some hand guards are pretty much all you need. Radiator braces are useful and save money with this kind of riding. The Open C races are 90 minutes on a different course than the A/B. You can also switch mid year if you want to go up or down. Where in Montana did you move back to?

Yeah my bike is setup for moto and desert not to tall of gearing.

But yeah figured if I started in Open C and could be moved up after a race or two if needed but would be a good starting point.

But I do like running classes with a cc limitation since I do have a 250.

I just moved back to Missoula as well

Thank you for your advice and input

I’m sure this already makes sense, but if you have any real specific questions send a note to those folks on Facebook.

This is one of the nicest group of people I have ever met in my life. The biggest thing I can tell you about the 406 series is it’s really really fun. They make it hard but it’s so damn fun and everybody is so damn nice. Have a great time that’s a Great race with excellent promoters

there are definitely people that are competitive in this series. But I don’t doubt for a minute at every last one of them would stop to help you if something happened.  come over and race that race they put up in Billings. My hometown riding area!

I'm trying to do as many as I can afford and work with my work schedule.

Also will be doing a few in Washington that are only a few hours away.
