Thank you everyone thank you so much. Justin is in surgery right now and is having an operation on his mouth which will be wired shut for 6 weeks, and also his back. After this operation I am sure he will be sleeping pretty good for a little while, and then hopefully he will be able to sit up (right now he has been laying on his back flat) Please if your a close friend or family contact one of us so we can give you the update and how he is doing. We will know more after surgery. Thank you all and please visit his site God bless you all.

Justin did not sever his spinal cord, he has no feeling from the chest down. He is in surgery now to correct his vertabra in his back. We are praying, and everyone to do the same, thank you everyone.

Maria, I don't mean to pry, but I think many of us would like to have an idea of where his spinal injury is...did they give you an indication of which vertebrae are damaged, like with a letter and a number?

X2. I think I can speak for everyone praying this may be some temporary swelling or bruising and that he may have some chances of regaining feeling.

He has broken the vertebra right underneath the sternum. Something about T's ... it's the upper back near the neck. Broken neck, back, and jaw. It's okay please keep asking questions. The surgery is going to put plates in his back that will straighten out the vertebra. Could someone direct me in the way to make this a thumbtack at the beg of the page? ... im new to vital, just please keep visiting www.justinweeks381.com something will be up tonight. God bless.

Hopefully, Breck
If it's a swelling issue, it's possible
He may need some rehab or therapy, but it's possible

Look at Matt Bigos, he was flat out paralyzed for 6 months, told he'd never walk again, now he races bicycles, has raced triathlons and is on the US Paralympic Team

I had my jaw wired shut for 6 weeks in January from an arenacross accident. Drink Ensure, Smoothies and lots of protein drinks. My grandmother always made me thick chicken and dumpling broth. Oh, and don't watch travel channel and food channel cause it's just torchure. But I know that's the least of the worry right now.

Anyone who has ever raced competitively in motocross, are all too aware that is a dangerous sport. Only the talented, smart and most of all strong have what it takes to be a part of the best in the country. Accidents aren’t widely conversed in our sport but to be able to ride with the 40 best riders in the nation you must be completely ignorant to the fact that you could get hurt if you did this, or that. That ignorance is key to letting it all hang out and being a winner. Clinching a 450A championship at Loretta’s is the biggest thing you can do in your amateur career. And for those few that have done so are the truly skilled athletes in our sport. When you’re on the podium, drenched in sweat, forearms swollen and winded cause you just put together one hell of a moto, that’s when it was all worth it. Every minute in the gym, every mile on a bicycle and especially every lap on a bike. Most all current amateurs like myself look on in awe when watching Justin ride. The natural flow and fluidity he has when he’s riding is like that of a champion. Watching him only makes me want to ride that much harder and faster. It’s what keeps us all riding, just thinking that one day we could be as fast as he is.

we are all praying here in the mid-west for him!

My prayers go out to you Justin

I broke my t4, t5, & t6 and bruised my spinal cord. As long as the spinal cord is not severed there is a good chance he will regian mobility but I'm not a Dr so please don't quote me. I have a little knowledge on this because I did somthing similar to my cord after the accident and it took about 6 months before the numbness went away ......the dr described it as a flick to the spinal cord (edema or a bruise if you will) and thats what was causing the numbness ....luckinly the ones he broke can be operated on, mine aren't anywhere near an easy location because they are directly behind the Heart his are slightly above that and since the one's I broke are in such a location almost NO doctor wanted to touch me because of the complextiy and danger of the operation, a 10 out of 10 as it was described to me. Thankfully he was able to be operated on and I pray he comes back to normal.

This post has nothing to do with me or my situation just wanted to shed some light on where his injury is and what I've understood and interpreted by reading and being treated thus far ....good luck Justin and thank you Maria for the updates!

I was at a local track tonight talking with many racers about this. Some who raced LL's were down right shocked when I told them. Just blown away...
We all know that track very well. First thing everyone wondered is if it happened over the super double..
from my family to yours and especially Justin, our thoughts and prayers are with you. be strong.
please continue to keep us posted.
thanks

Maria 800 I know personally what the family is going through. My son Frankie had a bad crash about 18 months ago. He crushed the T-10 vertebrae and lost feeling in both legs, but had limited movement The surgeons installed two 13 inch rods in his back to straighten the spine and prevent any movement or pressure from being placed on the crushed vertebrae. The operation lasted about seven hours. The numbness in his legs went away slowly and is now completely gone. The doctors and staff of Texas Childrens Hospital in Houston performed a miracle for us. He is now completely healed and is able to ride and do almost anything he wants to. I hope and pray Justin heals quickly. Mickey

Everyone, your bringing me to tears I cannot belive this support from everyone. I am beyond tired and going to get some rest tonight, I live 2 hours from the hospital justin is at and will be back there in the afternoon, it tears me apart to be away from him. When he is feeling up to it, I will be reading some of these posts to him, bring him some light and postive lookout on the situation. Thank you all so so much. Surgery went well today, and the recovering part right now is painful, other than that I don't have an specific information. We are all hoping for the best ... Thank you for making this a post, again the site is
