Reading through the other topics there is a huge amount of negativity towards it.
I flew from Ireland to attend the race & I thought it was absolutely brilliant! As did everyone i spoke to before & after the event. Everyone said they would go back again next year & being others.
There was a good crowd & atmosphere in the stadium esp with Anstie doing well & Roczen busting out the quad. I thought the track was excellent & there was a lot of passing. The format was intense & it was great to watch so many motos with guys laying it all out.
For the first event it showed that it has huge potential & it should only get better. Im sure they will change the soil up a little for the next event. The ‘tuff blocks’, i like the idea they are cardboard. If you go off course in a section they wont knock you off. But they need sumthin more sturdy for the corners than a cardboard box. The medical crew were far to slow getting to downed riders.
It was impossible to tell who was who during a race. There was no big board showing positions & rider names. & no one had a clue who was in contention for the OA going into the last moto.
The sound of the announcer was crappy so we couldn’t hear any commentary & the rider interviews were muffled after.
Potential format change, 2 x sx2 then 2 x sx1. Short break to build climax & fix track, then sx2 final followed by SX1 final.
With that said, we went to see great racing with great riders & thats what we got! & lots of great racing. In person is much better than watching at home. The cameras can only focus on one battle. In person there was 4-5 battles going on in every race & it was getting hot & heavy at times.
Does world sx have a future? YES
But in order to have a future they need the top riders. Would i have went without kenny & eli? Simply no.
If Sexton, webb & Anderson were there id say that stadium would have been full!
I believe World SX is needed to help SX grow. When i watch MXGPs in person it is mostly men standing in a field. At SX there were so many wives, girlfriends & kids there to see there heroes.
I would like to see this as an 8 round series in the off season:
Cardiff UK
Berlin Germany
Sydney Australia
Bejing China
Delhi India
Sao Paulo Brazil
Tokyo Japan
? USA
SX is an amazing product. We keep complaining about attracting outside sponsors. Surely this would help? Think of all the kids in those countries meeting there heroes. I personally dont have the money to go to USA SX but i can get to a local race. If the ama could work with sx global they would both increase revenues. If World SX is a success then you have hundreds of thousands of extra fans tuning in to watch the American series. More money in the sport, more sponsors. Maybe more happiness for the riders getting to see the world
Dont keep SX to yourself. Share it with the rest of the world!

What I thought was great was there was some fans of AJ Tracey sitting behind us that initially had no intention of watching the racing & enjoyed the SX2 so much they decided to stay and watch the 450s, granted we had to explain the format and who was who but if that isn’t organic exposure for the sport I don’t know what is.
Throughly enjoyed & if there was a round in Cardiff again I would go & make a weekend of it.
