Cool car. That was back when Toyota knew how to build a RWD car.

What kind of racing are you doing?

I had an 83' 280Z Datsun, best car i ever owned. AC, power seats, windows, steering, 4 wheel indy susp, brakes, etc.

Ignition system sucked, so i used a garage door open/close, and all was well.

The Celica will treat you right as well.

Just local circle track stuff. theres a 1/4 mile track about 10 miles from my house that is a blast. the class I am running now is basically a stock 4 cylinder class. take out the windows and interior, weld in a cage, and go play. I am gonna put a new motor in that one though. The motor in it has 272000 on it and I am a bit worried whether or not it will survive at 5000 rpms for the rest of its life. So now I am searching around craigslist for a good rebuilt 22re. Its gonna be a bit of a project. Motor swap wont be cheap, cage it gonna run about $650, new racing seat about $200, belts $150, Paint $100, Vinyl $100 + whatever sponsor logos, wheels $300 (for 6) Tires $300 (6 as well) and I thing thats about it. Hopefully I can find some people looking for interior pieces to sell chunks to.

Look at your glass has half full and keep it all in perspective, you are doing some AFFORDABLE racing there. Good luck with the project.

For sure, you should probably be able to find a 22re with less than 100k for around $5-600 or less.
