I know, not dirt, but this is still a classic 2 stroke. And it's not so much a build as a light cosmetic refresh. I picked it up yesterday and will spend the next 6-8 weeks going over it with a fine-tooth comb and making it as close to perfect as I can.
Story on the bike is that it was sold in the Boston area in 77. Ridden for 5 years, it went into a crate in 1983 with 2800 miles on it and came out 30 years later when the original owner died and it was sold. In 2014-15 the 2nd owner had it gone thru end-to-end and fully restored. A remarkable survivor in almost 100% original condition with 3,925 total original miles and now it's mine. It will not get sold again while I am alive.
Mechanically and electrically it is in excellent shape since over $6000 was spent in 14/15 on the restoration. It did get some very minor modernizing then (electronic ignition, SS brake lines, lithium battery). All it really needs is the wheels overhauled. I plan to cerakote them a light, gun-metal gray while leaving the spoke and wheel rim (face trim) natural aluminum. I'll do the fork lowers to match as the anodizing is a bit rough.
I will post some good photos once it is done. It will get ridden on nice days afterwards and my son will get it one day.
The cool thing is this is the first street bike I ever owned (1979). Just last year I found and restored a 1979 RM125N, which was the first moto bike I ever owned (1980). Now I have them both again in my garage. I won't tell you what I paid for it cause it was almost stealing.

Race Tech gold valves are ready, the fork lowers are out getting cerakote, wheels out getting vapor honed. It is going to be spectacular when it is done.
Chain thanks to Simon Temmerman at Mika Metals. She was named Mika many years ago, well before I'd think Simon was even in business.
