Trying to open a track near Indianapolis. The closest track is an hour and a half from downtown. So we go to the county that is the hillbilly capital of the area. They have the horse track and casino, let people build shacks on nothing and if you are bringing money to the county you are good. The property is an old gravel pit that has nothing around it and is zone to where you could put anything on it that you want. Not a motocross track. It seems that there is a nuisance list in their laws and a motocross track is one of them. I am going to check and see what else they deem as a nuisance. We all need a wake up call. The property owners worst fear was the noise. I dont think we have to wary about that now. Its too late, we are a nuisance.

I've worked with both race and practice tracks deal with sound issues. Just because they list MX tracks as nuisance doesn't mean we can't attempt to change their minds.
This is an opportunity to utilize sound levels to your advantage. You can present a case that you will be doing sound testing and the track will be quieter than the previous tracks that left them with the impression MX tracks are a nuisance. Sound equipment isn't that expensive, is very easy to use, and riders will find their bikes run much better with fresh packing. To me the question is would you rather ride a quiet bike and have a track to ride at or a loud bike with one less place to ride.
Funny thing is I am as hard core as they come regarding loving MX but I HATE loud bikes and can fully identify why some find MX bikes obnoxious.
I can't identify with those who think we don't have to do anything about noise.....you story is a perfect example of the damage others have done by not paying attention to noise.....
My mobile is 310.387.1889 if you want to talk. I will also be in Dayton hopefully in the next month and could come over to Indy if you need me to be "the sound guy" with the city.
Good luck!
Today's NIMBY attitude, lawsuits, eco-naxis, and growing population certainly haven't helped our cause either.
