I just want to find out I want to buy my self a off road bike for sum weekend fun

Im a begginer so I dont realy know where to start,I have two bikes i like

the Yamaha YZ 450 and Kawasaki KX 250,can any one help me by giving me advice

My '08 KX250F is the best bike I've ever owned.

Rode the '09 and it was better.

If you are a Beginner I would go with the KX 250. Or better yet a YZ 125.

Depends if you are buying a used bike or a new bike. I would never buy a used 4T unless it spent all it's life in the garage.

I have both. I am no beginner and far from being a pro, but my 07 Kx250f is the one I like better. (ez to start...) Ohh.. I am also lazy

Give us a few more details as to your experience, type of riding you intend on doing and mechanical abilities. If you are a beginner that definitely rules out the 450. Too much bike for most humans regardless of skill level.

basically for weekend use and trail riding, i used to drive a yamaha R6 street bike and a yamaha rt 350 but thats about it,

a 4T is a 4 stroke I think. A used one will run u 1000$ to 1500$ to rebuild if needed. A used 2 stroke will run you 500$ For trail riding I would go with a YZ 250 two stroke. It will cost you a lot less in the long run.

cool thanx man,,but I have another option the Honda CRF 230 F 4 stroke and its brand new out of the box for 35k

If you have any intention whatsoever of riding at faster than a snails pace skip the 230. It was not meant to do anything but slowly navigate trails and blaze graded fire roads. Buy the two stroke but I suggest you find a KDX200 or a KTM 200 EXC. If you buy any of the MX 250's you may want to add a flywheel weight and an FMF Gnarly pipe to get the power you want for trail riding. I would advise against the four stroke due to maintenance concerns. That being said if you do buy a four stroke buy the KTM EXC series only. They are pretty well bullet proof and do not require such frequent valve adjustments. (The manual for the 2004 450 EXC says like 96 hours or something like that) Good luck and happy riding.

yeah if you think you might end up getting off of trails in the future and trying out the track then definatly skip the 230! i own one and putting it on any sort of track is not fun at all without excessive changes and youll probly just be in the way but if you strictly plan to stay on the trails its pretty comfortable but a little small compared to how a 250 will hold you.

Why does everyone always say you can rebuild a two stroke for $500 bucks? That all depends on whats jacked with the thing and if the person with the bike is capable of making the repairs themselves.

From the tone of this guy’s post my best guess would be that he couldn't.

A 2 stroke is such a simple design most people could do it themselves. Even if they can't a mechanic is going to be able to do it in 1/4 of the time thus being less money for labor.

I could buy a new cylinder and a top end kit for $500.00. What else you talking about?

If you are used to an R6 type power you will have no problem with a yz450. They are by far the most tame of all the 450's and easy to ride. 2 stroke 250 power is way more explosive.

Get a 4 stroke, since your not racing, it'll last you longer than any 2 stroke if maintained properly! Had a yz450, went 4 years with not a single problem, just did the regular maintenance. Valves were in spec when I sold it. No two stroke I ever owned was that reliable!

I have both in my garage. I woul suggest you go with the kx 250. As mentioned in previous posts, its less expensive and easier to work on yourself.
