2021 CRF 450 starting problems

How much does a plug for a Honda cost? I've heard some crazy numbers.

Any update on this? Not hearing/finding any recent updates.

A friend of mine recently bought a 2021 crf450rx and has pretty much the same problems as LT423 described. The bike has not been ridden in the dirt yet and has less than an hour on it. The dealer keeps sending spark plugs, but thats not really fixing the problem. Its the third plug in less than an hour.

The dealer has 3 other customers with the same problems, but they havent heard anyting yet from Honda.

I just got my 2021 got it home fired right up rode it around the block put it in the garage pulled it back out today to put different bars on it fired right up changed bars started it changed maps and with in 2 second fouled a plug pulled the plug was real wet so cleaned it put it back in fired right up and fouled again bike has maybe 10 mins on it if that.. taking it back to dealer in the morning haven't even got to ride the bike yet. Pretty pissed about it.. anybody ran rocky mountain atvs mapping they said stage one is locked but they cleaned up 2 and 3 they give you the actual scan to with the maps on it little pricey tho

honda has issued a new map program. all you have to do is take it to your dealer and let them reprogram the ecu per HRC hondas map. it is a free process provided by honda

Yea i toke it to my local dealer and they have no Idea what I'm talking about when I dropped it off at 10 this morning he said 2 hrs if that 5 rolls around still isn't done they was trying to call honda and now there closed haven't even got to ride the bike kinda frustrating

Anyone in Canada able to get the reflash done? Did your dealer know anything about it?

Order a vortex will cure the issue

I don't doubt that a vortex does cure the issues, but not really looking to spend another $900 before trying the reflash.

The weather was good enough this weekend in MN to ride outdoors. I did get my bike reflashed at Larson’s. (Great service). It starts great, runs great, makes great power. Big improvement. I have about 2 hrs on the WE now and am starting to get comfortable. It will definitely be better machine than the old chassis IMO.

I have yet to try it(still have snow) but MEISTER recommended a TDR reflash and did that. GREAT service quick work. and paid some of the shipping.

Snow has melted enough to take the bike out and try it this weekend. Dealer finally able to get info from Honda Canada on the reflash, but they had to order the harness to complete it so I will be riding it as is for now. See how bad it is and might be sending it out for an aftermarket flash.

At this point everyone should know don't buy a first Year Honda

I rode one the other day , it's a good bike for sure but 1st year honda's always have issues . It feels just like my 19 kx450 , I loved the smooth motor but the forks sucked
