Öhlins cartridge AER fork

Hi!
Just got myself a cartridge kit from öhlins to my ktm sx 250 2019, the install was pretty straight forward. But got a question about preload settings, the manual says 8-11mm preload is recomended.

It came with a bunch of plastic spacers in different sidens to adjust preload settings. The total spring installation should be 491mm, the spring itself is only 465mm.
Should i put spacers so i get the correct spring installation measurement and then add more spacers to get the preload correct?
Do i get a negative preload if i dont have enough spacers to get the recommended spring length?
The spring sits tight without any spacers.

There should be another page telling you how to measure preload.
