Just an update on the Rott we brought in.

He went after my older large dog again this AM, 4th time. I am bummed, but on the other hand our vet took him, he was a trainer and will give him a good home. Larry our Mastiff mix had some bad tears around his ear and inside his mouth. He also got me when I was trying to pull them apart. He won't quit. Found out about his breeding background also, not good. Known for their aggressive dogs. He is a loving dog though to people, he is just animal aggressive and his breeders were known for that. Also found out that we are the 4th home he has been in. The idiot next door has had him since he was a pup and he has ruined him by keeping him in a small kennel when he would get him back. That is a trick to make them aggressive.

I have 6 deep puncture wounds in my right quad. It was weird, feeling the canines sink to depth. I also got it on my left arm and left knee. Couldn't stop the bleeding so I went to the ER. Fucking idiots in the wait room. All the people in there were drug or alcohol related and non paying patients, no wonder the Health care industry is so F'ed up. Heroin, Coke addict with abscess's in her arms that were in need of treatment. Some Dick head drunk with a broken shoulder and so on, 9:30 in the AM! I was getting really attached to him also, smelled like dog slobber and dog bones all the time. We walked every day and it was good for me and my hip that has been an issue. I am bummed.

Sorry to hear that, that's great the Vet took him in. At least you gave it a chance... more than most people would do.

Thanks, he is a beautiful pup. Wish we could have had him way earlier. Appreciate the comment.

Sorry to hear it Pete. You tried, but you gotta take care of you, your family and the dog you have. Really sucks about the bites as well.

Glad you could find him a good home though.

That does suck. I have been dog bit a couple of times and it hurts like a mother. You tried real hard with that dog, and thats admirable to say the least.

Its a dog eat dog world ya know.

At least he is going to be well taken care of. The bite is starting to hurt but tomorrow will be the test. Weird feeling the teeth sink. Thanks for the comments guys, it really is much appreciated.

I've never been bitten by a Rott but I have a friend that owns one and the power in those jaws is frightening. He's a nice dog but I don't even like horsing around with it because when he grabs my arm or hand I can tell he could really do some damage with hardly any effort! I just pet him, scratch his back and keep saying "nice doggie!"

Damn Pete, sorry to hear that! Rott's can be wonderful dogs, too bad you weren't involved in his life earlier. Good luck on your bites healing. Hope to see you at a track sometime again.

dam,sorry to hear that FCR

i was just in kauai working ..my old buddy has 3 greman sheps..2 are female and they all grew up together, but different litters..

the 2 females fight to the death..so he has them tied up and cages for them to keep them seperated..

the maid was told never to change the routine..one of them in a cage before the other gets out for exercise time..well, she was always arguing with the owner saying ,maybe they should mingle..well,she got them together.,..the owner was at work and she let them mingle..they tore each other up so bad, that the one female lost both her canine teeth and had to go to the vet..a neighbor called mike at work and told him..they almost killed each other..big vet bill..theres really no reason for them to hate each other..we just don't understand why..they aren't trained to fight..but they are still alive, but the maid got fired..

Very sorry to here that. The pit that got me was the same way. The best dog anyone could ever want when it came to people but couldn't keep from fighting with other dogs.

I hope you and you're mastiff heal up all right.

Good try, dude. I have an American Bulldog who was rolled as a puppy by pit bulls at a dog park, and then bit by two pit bulls while getting training at Petsmart, and now every time he sees a pit at the dog park, he goes after them. And he's a pretty burly dude. I'm trying to break him of it because most pits aren't bad dogs, including every one he tries to attack, but I'm having trouble, too. He plays with German Shephards, Labs, etc., but pits he always attacks.

I love American Bulldogs, they are great pups. Hope yours mellows for his sake. I just don't like seeing dogs injured and the more they get into it, the more likely to get a major injury. They are one of the better looking dogs IMO. Very Paul Neumanish, nice square features.

Mine's more or less mellow, but he's not even two years old. He was the runt of the litter (8 pounds at 8 weeks, compared to double that for most of his 10 brothers and sisters), and he's going to top out at like 85-90 pounds, whereas his dad was over 110, but he's solid muscle - and he can jump from a sitting position to take a ball out of my hand as high as I can possibly hold it, and I'm 6'1". I'm working on the whole "be the alpha male" thing right now with him because he thinks he owns the place. Last night we were walking him and his big sister (a chihuahua) and some guy's dog came running up to mine, and we kept walking, and it was fine until the other dog tried to mount my dog, and in two seconds flat he had the dog pinned to the pavement while the owner ran to grab him.

It was kind of funny. He didn't hurt the dog, but he could've if he wanted to.

There is a woman at the barn where my wife rides her horses, that has a male ABdog. It is out in Temecula, he weighs about 125 lbs. and is ripped. Very cool dog also. We also have a few that walk around here that are just so good. If he is less than 2 he will be good to go. At least he didn't keep going.

No, he's not mean in any way. My 3-year-old nephew literally sits on his back while he's chewing a bone and pulls on his collar and my dog does absolutely nothing. But he's like the incredible hulk - I wouldn't want to see him when he's angry. He's very powerful, and he doesn't feel pain. Even at dog parks, Gus (that's his name) goes around to person after person before even paying attention at all to the dogs. He's a great pooch. But I do have to work on his dog aggression, especially with Pits.
