And yet both Ward and O'Mara made education a priority for their kids.

Is there anything wrong with being respectful in the classroom AND using your talent/drive to excel at sports?

Yes....because a Lamborghini in the driveway is what defines "success"..... (sarcasm).

How many pro-athletes reap all the rewards and go "baller" only to end up bankrupt/broke when the lights go dark in their career?

This is not a slam on JohnnyO or Wardy....they are two of my all time moto heroes.

I just don't measure success by how much "bling" you have.

Stupid reaction from all parties involved. A teacher should tell his kids that dreaming and reaching for the stars isn't a crime but that knowing how the world works and a back up plan isn't a bad idea. This to motivate them to go full out in both sports as school.

The other ones who brag that "they make" it should consider the fact that their are a ton of kids (in our sport homeschool kids) who will not make it and have no back up plan. In other sports you have some kids who are great in College Basketball, football, ... but will only be one or two year pro because they aren't ready for the next level. Also in every sport you are just one injury away from retirement. In the last decade we saw great talent riders such as: Nico Izzi and Austin Stroupe get injured and addicted. We saw others got severe injured and quite riding of never got back on the same level like Broc Hepler, Davi Millsaps, Ian Trettel, ...

So answering "Sucks for the 99.99%" seems pretty douchy when in fact a teacher is just doing what he has to do. Giving kids a reality check.

Can do both. There's plenty of examples of people who achieve at more than one thing in life... just as there are many of people who do fuck all and ask for hand-outs.
