Early in the race...rail the corner hard...exit fast....but to not OJ you have stand up to absorb/scrub the jump. That is tiring because you have stand up FAST while on the throttle hard, as you noted. As soon as you get your foot on the peg...you are squeezing the bike and standing up.
Later in a race, riders get too fatigued to stand up fast...so they stay seated, buy invariably they adjust their speed down to suit jumping seated....and it costs a lot of time on the clock. The top guys do not back off and start seat bouncing. They rail the whole race and absorb/scrub out of corners. Very demanding. If you watch closely, you will see riders adjust their line sometimes to use a bump or depression to provide a little boost to standing up if there happens to be terrain to help in the right spot.
