Hi all,
I may have an opportunity to buy my uncle's huskys. 1st one is a 1983 cr 430, lay down shocks. 2nd is an 83'ish wr500 motor in a water-cooled, monoshock frame. Bikes are complete, but haven't run in 20 years. Stored inside, both still turn over and will presumably run with crank seals, carb boots, etc.

They have some sentimental value. First bike I ever rode was the 430, when I was 12. They are also 2500 miles away, so I'd have to ship them.

What would be a reasonable price for them? He's thinking $1500 a piece, seems a little steep.

How about the wr? Kind of a Frankenstein, but 100% functional. Who do you recommend on bike shipping? I've used haulbikes for atv's, I was pleased.

Whew. I'd be uninterested at that price. Both bikes would need probably 500 dollars min each to be track worthy, the primary crank seal will require a case split on the Husky motor.
The frankinbike would be a tough sell and probably have to be parted out to recoup some of your investment.
Husky parts are easy to get but expensive compared to Jap bikes of the era.
That said I'd love to have one of the first bikes I rode back... Keep us posted.
