2016 Yz250f Rattle

Have a 2016 yz250f that rattles only when hitting and bouncing off the rev limiter, not sure if its the packing in the muffler or if its just a certain part that rattles at that specific RPM. Its been doing this for 3 rides now and no fasteners seem to be loose. Need Help and any thoughts.

can you provide hours and some service history? When was the last time your top end and timing chain was replaced? When was your exhaust repacked?

Bouncing off the rev limiter is the best way to shorten engine life. Every time you do it you have shortened the engine life by about 15 minutes. It is very hard on engine components. It is hard on cam chains, valves, valve seats, rod bearings etc.

25 hours on the bike, no major work has been done to it yet except checking valve clearance. Just found a dent in one of the exhaust heat shields that made the shield contact the exhaust. Might be the problem but wont know till I ride this weekend. Also the timing chain looked in spec and had good tension.

If you are at 25 hours and bouncing off the limiter a lot you may want to do a top end and timing chain at the very least.
