EASY Way to clean air filters

We all HATE cleaning air filters right!?!?
Well I have developed a technique that minimizes the work to basically installing a new one every ride.

Disclaimer* I use no toil biodegradable air filter oil. Now they claim you can only use no toil cleaner but idk the validity in that. So here’s the stuff I use

This is the cleaner, it’s a powder. Not too expensive

This is the oil I use, it gets very tacky! There is a solvent in it that aids in application, then it evaporates off leaving the filter very sticky.

Next step
Get a 5 gallon bucket with lid and fill it 2/3 full of water. Then add a good amount of the cleaner (about 1/3 of the container more is fine too) next I add purple power or a similar degreaser to fill the bucket to 3/4.
You’ll want to leave some room for when you add filters.

So when I wash the bike, I pull out the filter and throw it in the bucket and put the lid on. ( I use wash covers)
Let the filter soak for a few days or a week- hell i’ve Left them in for a month cause I forgot. The cleaners break down all the oil and lift it from the filter.
Then just rinse the filter with hot water and it will be ready for oil once it’s dry.

Oiling filters does suck. Just get gloves and pour your oil into a condiment bottle like this

Hold the tip against the filter and do a wave pattern all over the outside of the filter. Squeezing gently you’ll notice your actually injecting the oil into the middle of the filter. Once the filter has squiggles all over, turn it inside out and massage until it is evenly spread. Then touch up any thin spots.

So I have multiple filters for my bikes and I will do 3-4 at a time. The degreaser bath does all the hard work for you, then oiling is made easy with the condiment bottle. I’ll put all the freshly oiled filters in grocery bags till I need them.

The degreaser bath lasts for a long time, so you won’t spend as much money on cleaning products. The whole process is biodegradable so it’s good for the planet, your not buying disposable filters and creating excess waste, and you still have a very tacky filter that I have yet to see dirt get pulled through.

Hope you enjoyed!

Dude, your doing it all wrong 😂 Put them things in the washing machine!! Works so good with no toil cleaner. And it won’t jack up the machine at all. You will be surprised how clean it is after 😆

Yes, using the bio degradable oil is very good. When I have used enough filters to fill the drum, I clean them in my old washing machine with the hot program (90 degr C)
I run the program twice and the filters are perfectly clean.

I hadn’t thought of using the washing machine, I wouldn’t use mine tho! Maybe the laundromat!!!
