A few years ago my son got the same call to come race LV.

It was in the AX amateur ranks, but still an exciting phone call.

We went and he got 2nd, it's his most prized trophy and well worth the entry fees.

Usually when you are asked to do a favor for someone you get something in return. Sounds like the A.M.A asked for a favor but decided it was best not to give anything in return for the favor.

This why smaller promoters are getting more and more of veteran mxers money I rode last week at Hangtown, and Chuck Sun raced his entrance fee for two days of racing was 80.00 dollars.just like mine was, and I am a nobody.Saturday night Dinner included. We do it for the love of the sport not for the love of money. The AMA seems noexistent in NorCal they dont want our money.

everyone is so hateful against the sport on a professional level! Why don't you start having races at your track? If all you're going to do is bitch about it, then I fully expect you to not watch it on tv.

I dont think were bashing SX we would just like to see the riders paid fairly for what they do.

For F@*k sake's!! Fairly? What is considered fair? Does the sport only revolve around how much you get payed now? The whole 'I race because I love it and it's fun" I guess is just thrown out the window. The aren't friggin firemen or police officers. Open your eye's life isnt fair.

Im not sure how you would do that Dave. I can tell you that when a rider in the lites class makes the main and finishes in the back of the pack and only makes a few hundred bucks there is something wrong. You would know more than me on this issue but i would say that the promoter needs to be more open about their earnings and what it takes to host an event. Then maybe from there the prize money can be adjusted accordingly. I dont know what the answer is but i do know SX generates millions and the guys that are out there putting there life on the line are not compensated like they should be. Do you think the talent level in the stick and ball sports would be as talented as it is if those guys made a few hundred bucks a game? Probably not, Ultimately if this sport wants to become more mainstream and generate more than it already does then they need to open there pockets to the participants.

It's real easy, if the riders don't like how much they get paid find another line of work. If i was not making what I deserve I would find a new job. If I was not making enough to drive into work then I'd find something else. Lets be honest, a large majority of SX riders are damn near retarded. Just listen to most of them speak. I'm not sure how much they are really worth to an employer.

I think the top 20 in both mains don't behave retarded, ok maybe 1, but most of them are good guys and speak intelligently for the most part.

Take the blinders off. Not all, but a good bit of them are socially retarded.

No blinders I know most of them and have interacted socially with them and don't agree with your assessment.

So they dont have enough riders for the weekend. They get on the phone and start making some calls to fill the gates. They are lucky enough to recruit one that i know of. Since he wasnt planning on going, family and friends pull together to help him get there and the AMA is gracious enough to say ( ohh yea dont forget your $200 entry fee ) Pathetic!!

If he makes the main and finishes last he wont even cover his meal expense.....
Such a great organization....
Where do you live in Mechanicsville, I drive through there on my way home everyday.
