Okay so I've got a 2017 rmz 450 with the spring conversion kit. My question here is how exactly does the spring preload work and when should I adjust it? I've had people tell me several different things but would like to know if it's something I should adjust as much as compression or if it's a set according and dont touch it again. Sorry if I seem stupid here just not familiar with a preload spring on front forks.

im sure someone else will chime in as my forks dont have this adjustment. I believe it adjusts the initial part of the stroke firmer(more preload) or plusher (less) by compressing the spring slightly as you add more preload. i think you would use this adjustment if the bike is riding to hi or low in the stroke.

Okay that's what I've been assuming it was. Normally I dont adjust it unless it's a soft loamy day then I firm it up a bit but wasnt sure if it would make a huge change to the other forks settings.

pre-load is mainly for chassis balance. Not for adjusting stiffness. Much the same as the rear shock.
