The battery on an Alta is similar to a gas tank on an ICE bike. The more throttle applied the quicker the energy is going to be depleted. I'm pretty sure the bikes in the Seattle SX did not use very much fuel. The only time the rider used a lot of throttle was if the bike got stuck. An Alta would have had battery charge left after the race was over.

As for waterproofing....The Alta has an IP67 rating which I have defined below...

The second number of the IP rating system refers to protection against liquids. ... They are protected from dust and capable of withstanding water immer- sion between 15 cm and 1 meter for 30 minutes.

In other words, they are rated to be submerged for 30 minutes. No snorkel kit required.

It would be nice if they could put a roof over the track. How cool would that be?

Does this mean I could put on a scuba suit and try to ride the thing on a lake bottom? If true, its time for the coolest, most unique dirt bike advertising video ever created.
