I just saw this posted and was surprised nobody is talking about it. I checked which teams use Bridgestone tires and was surprised...just to name a few...

Team Suzuki
Team Yamaha
Team Kawi
Team Monster PC

I have a hard time believing such a important company is pulling out. Amazing.

Do these factory teams just go with Dunlop?
Will Bridgestone supply the production bikes with tires?
If the production bikes come with Bridgestones can the factory race team use Pirelli, Dunlops or Maxxis tires?

I think this is a pretty powerful statement...

"By letting our teams know of our exit now, they will have ample time to make necessary arrangements for 2010 and beyond."

WOW!

Also, they didn't mention Arenacross.

Buying all of those top teams you listed apparently was too expensive for them. Dunlop is probably cutting back as well. I don't think Pirelli buys very much, if any, of their business in Pro SX/MX.

While this sucks, ask yourself two questions (or do some research)

1) What tires do your friends use and recommend?
2) What brand of off-road tire takes up the most space in your dealer's racks?

Exact-a-mun-do. No matter how many people they pay to run their tires, I am not spending my hard earned money on them. I've tried them many times and nothing compares with the Dunlops. Not for the price, anyways.

I've always liked Bridgestone over any thing else out there but never understood their marketing plan. Supplying top teams with tires no one else can buy may be good for brand marketing if you're a start up but after that it seems exclusionary.

id like to see some different companies step up and each take a team, kenda, maxxis, michelin, pirelli, but im sure everyone will run dunlops. i like my dunlops but they just wear too fast. i'll be curious to know how those new geomax tires last.

I hear rumors at work (goodyear) that our plant will start making motocross tires.I don't know if its true or not but they have cleared off a massive spot in the tire room for something.Maybe this is the reason for the step-up in production.

All the time. A bit harder to mount, but they wear great.

I wonder why Bridgestone would fight so hard to be the spec tire of MotoGP and then drop all their support for off-road? With Dunlop having the AMA series Michelin is out in the cold. They need to prop up the off-road scene. As bad as it is, I only run Michelin on my street bike... even without their support.
