FYI - I noticed on the xbox1 last night they had the game listed to pre-order. 59.99 standard edition pre-order gets I think some red fly gear and I think it was 69.99 for preorder for season pass edition. I may just do the season pass just as a big thanks for including a track editor in a game.
Just checked on the PS4 and in Canada the pre-order is $79.99 or $89.99 for the special edition.

Description for the special edition is the following:

Special edition includes the season pass, a theme for your system's home screen and the exclusive Monster Energy Supercross - Redfire Custom Rider Pack! A special background for your screen, an exciting and spectacular event, brand new tracks and countless customization options for rider and bike are waiting for you!

I'm guessing the special event is the Monster Cup?

I usually buy the season pass for games I like and know I'll play a lot because it comes out cheaper in the end. You won't have to buy the tracks individually with the season pass. Hoping they'll release the 2018 tracks not long after the release.

Just a heads up, if you are an Amazon Prime member, you can preorder for $47.99 and the game will be delivered on the release date. That's what I did in November.

Wishful thinking, since they are allowing for tracks to be created and shared with other users, I am hoping they will have a "Community Upload" section similar to the NBA 2K series that allows users to upload rosters/riders, logos, etc. I see a lot of people talking about the repetitiveness of MXGP3's career mode, so I think these type of features would solidify a much longer "shelf-life" if users can update riders and teams, upload tracks, create their own race teams with personalized logos, etc.

Track upload, yes. The rest of what you mentioned, no.

People will be able to create tracks and share them with the community, vote for the best, download them, etc. You're rewarded for your efforts with in-game currency as well. This probably only happens if your tracks are voted as some of the bests or if people download them. Whatever the case may be it's pretty cool that you'll be rewarded with something for your efforts.

I’ve always been against the idea of season passes. (We already pay $60 for a game, why should we pay extra for a few extra maps?) But at least Milestone isn’t charging the usual $20-25 for the season pass. $10 is more tempting, I suppose.
I find season passes great. Take Battlefield 1 for example. There's an expansion pack called In the Name of the Tsar that was released and because I have the premium pass I don't pay for it.

If someone is interested in it but didn't buy the premium pass they'll have to shell out an extra $19.99 to have it.

The more stuff a game plans to release the better it is to purchase the season pass in my opinion. Of course if you're not that big of a fan of the game and it's something you picked up just to pass the time once in a while you don't really need the season pass since you're not going to invest much time in playing it.

Isn't 12 what reflex had? I recall that being pure madness the first half a lap. I remember other peoples connection ruining races, skipping across the track and glitching crashing people. That may be why they don't allow more. I use to help host those online tournaments and glitching or poor connections could make for a headache.

I don't have anything against people who buy season passes. If you like a game enough to buy one, good for you. I've just never been a fan of it (I'm even less of a fan of micro transactions). Just my opinion.

Yeah, its been 12 since reflex and I don't think any moto game has gone above that threshold since. To be honest, I don't think you would want to. Forza has 22 I believe. Anyone who plays forza knows the shit show that is...

Formula 1 has 22 players as well. It's absolute carnage at the first corner online.

I just think 20 bikes would be awesome to have online. I know All Out will be 16 players.

Other racing games

NASCAR is 40 players
F1 is 20 players
Need for Speed is 8 players
Dirt Rally is 8 players
Project Cars 2 is 16 players
Assetto Corsa is 16 players
Dirt 4 is 8 players

Can't see why we can't get a minimum of 20 bikes online when other games are able to get that amount or more of cars.

Maybe because of the scale? Most car games start 2 wide as oppose to MX games where they're all lined up next to one another. But even then it's just the start after that the track width stays the same.

It doesn't mention it. Read above it says what the special edition includes. Season pass is that. Whenever they release a new track or tracks you won't have to buy them individually if you got the season pass.

It also mentions a special event. Guessing it's the Monster Cup but who knows.

12+ on a SX track and you're basically playing your local C class arenacrash race.

So where is the special edition available? I've already pre-ordered at Gamestop and there is no mention of SE. Is that digital only?

I think you're fine. I pre-order games at Gamestop all the time. Most of the times you get a code with the game located in the case. Sometimes they print out another code at the bottom of the receipt so make sure to not throw it out before taking a close look at it.

Since you pre-ordered it you'll more than likely receive the special edition. If you want to make sure call the store and let them know that's the version you want.

It's actually completely incorrect. Only All Out has the option to receive it 4 days earlier via digital download on the Xbox/PSN stores.

This is found directly on Microsoft's site, available as a pre-order for digital download for xbox.

I was talking about the part that says "When you preordered via gamestop". I was just messing around and carrying it over from the all out thread since we were just talking about preorders in there. Edit: Should have just made a new meme though.

server costs is what it boils down to. Every game you mentioned above are infinitely more popular and sell many times over what this game will. Sales and profits go hand in hand with how much they are going to invest in a server farm, and how capable that farm is. A game of this size and scope, the servers are porbably leased and controlled by a third party. Only the big AAA blockbusters get tailored, in-house servers. And even then it might only be for 9-12 months before that server farm is downsized and throttled back in processing power.

just like everything, it all comes back to money. I'm sure the developers would love to have 20 players online at once.

If you've ever played MXGP3 or 2 for that matter, which you haven't. It is incredibly frustrating playing online with any more than 6 people. The first turn is carnage and anything after that is just full of take out moves. I cannot imagine playing a game with more than 12 unless collisions was turned off.

It's going to be hard as hell but once the game actually releases I know there will be someone with full gameplay posted here and all kinds of pros and cons, probably before I get to play. I'll get it day 1 but I will be in studio that day. I am going to totally treat this a bit like a movie. Sure, I've seen some of the most recent gameplay footage but once game releases I am going to avoid videos showing everything in the game, menus, extras and people's opinions so it is somewhat brand new to me when I fire it up. Then I can dive into it with it being really fresh. Spoiler-free!! Somewhat!

My schedule is always busy between my music career and work but I am taking a couple days off just for the release of MES to have some serious fun with a game that I have been wanting since the last licensed SX game nearly 20 years ago.

I can't wait. Smile

Yeah, That's kind of where I was coming from with the Forza reference. 12 people in MXGP 2 is a disaster. If you make it out of the first turn alive, its a miracle. If MX v ATV has 16 player lobbies, I will be interested to see how that works. In MES, no way it would be a good situation.

Playing with collisions off sucks IMO because rubbing is racing. That being said, Full throttle T-Bone's aren't racing... And that's par for the course playing MXGP with a full lobby.

Would definitely like to order the digital download SE version.

Were you or anyone else able to confirm if it is a digital download from that link? I do not see where it says digital download.

Doesn't matter how much players are online at once when you're in a room full of randoms. There's always going to be carnage. Why? Because for some people they consider that fun and it fucks up the experience for the other's that are actually trying to have fun racing.

Doesn't matter if it's a racing game or a shooter. Playing shooters on hardcore you have people join your squad just to kill you a couple times and get kicked out.

You can choose the standard edition or special edition for $10 more on the Xbox Store or PSN store. Do a search for Monster Energy and the game should pop up.

Special edition will be available on disc as well just like any other game.

I'm sure you'll be able to choose the version you want on Steam whenever it shows up on there.

No reason for PC not to have the special edition when it's available for consoles.
