Motion Pro Tire Gauge Accuracy?

I was checking tire pressure today and with a low pressure pencil gauge, KTM Gauge, and a digital pump and they all read 12lbs. I then tried 2 different Motion Pro gauges and they both read 10lbs?

So now I'm questioning the accuracy of the Motion Pro gauge. All three gauges were reading the same and the Motion Pro was 2lbs different.

Does anyone have experience with the Motion Pro? $89 is a lot for a gauge that is off.

What is the range on the gauge, 0-30 psi?

The pencil was giving the same readings as the digital and the KTM. You did read that right?

So what are the chances that all 3 are the same and 2lbs higher than the Motion Pro.

If you're really worried about it, you might be able to find a tool and instrumentation calibration shop local to you. They should be able to calibrate that gauge for a few bucks.

Ideally, the target set point should fall in the mid range of a gauge. That is where a gauge is most accurate. That doesn't mean a 0-60 gauge is no good for setting tire pressures in the 10 to 15 psi range, just not the best choice.

True but I was told people would borrow or accidentally attach the gauge when the pressure exceeds 30 and trash the gauge. Easy problem to solve by just fine tuning with the Motion Pro gauge but you would be safer with the 0-60.

Any gauge is good. The key is to always use the same gauge.

Pencil gauges are pretty accurate but the larger the spread, the more the variance.

I use a 0-20 Pencil gauge. Its bang on. I use a 0-120 Lb for my truck and it only reads in 2 lb increments so its going to have a bit larger variance. But its within about 1 lb. below 50 psi.

I've seen digital AND Dial gauges read far off from 3 pencil gauges that were all even.

A dial gauge is junk if its been dropped.

I know a mechanic on a team that is sponsored by MP, but he keeps another (much more expensive) gauge handy for use.
