I can't remember where he was at the 20 minute mark exactly, but I think still behind Reed in 6th... Had the race ended there, more than just goggles would have been hurled in rage!

Weird how you get no responses?

Not only that, as fans we got what may have been one of the best chases to the finish line for position in years.

MX/SX had always been about conditioning and speed. That is the conundrum about re-organizing the format, you lose the opportunity for the strong to overcome the weaker if you shorten the races. As a die hard fan of the sport that is the stuff of legend. As a fan, I would still see that sort of physicality show outdoors, but would prefer to see Dungey and other top rider's in 2 or 3 (shorter) motos since I am likely to see far more heroics rather than the rare run from the back of the pack.

I had this thought last night, went back and rewatched the race and timed it, he would've finished 5th. Got himself an extra 2 points thanks to the laps instead of minutes format.

Did you figure it with 20 minutes plus 1 lap? Either way we saw a great finish due to a slightly longer format.
(which I am not an advocate for)

Dungey rode like a champion last night. Dude showed why he has that #1. I do think this title will come down to Vegas. Tomac is not the same rider we seen the first few rounds. Not sure what he changed, but it's working. Like RC & Fro said last night. RD better figure somthing out quick, he can't win this title getting 2nd,3rd & 4th!

I don't really agree with the rules being switched just for Daytona. I'm a fan of the new 20 min rule. More times than not the racers are on the track longer (with the exception of Daytona). It makes holeshots a tad less crucial to having a good result.

I like seeing Dungey get bad starts because then he actually shows glimpses of his yellow days.

Just finished watching Daytona and all I can say is man can Dungey ride a bike. I've been a fan of his since his pro debut and I think this has to be one of his best rides. He never gave up, pushed it, gave it his 100% effort from the gate drop to the checkered flag and that pass on Seely I believe is what saved his championship.

The emotions he showed after the race was awesome. You could just tell he was pissed. He knows he rode great but was more than likely pissed at his start. I would of loved to see him start up front and put in the same ride he did. I haven't looked at the lap times and frankly I don't care about them since he had to come up through the pack but had he start up front I personally think he would of won the race with that ride.

I really wish more riders would give it 100% effort like he does. The racing would be so much better if everyone on the gate would ride that way instead of settling in and just pounding out laps like at the practice track.

I was also impressed with Reed until that little mishap. Without that little mishap I think Reed stood a good chance at getting on the podium for 3rd.

Can't wait for next Saturday.
