Picked up this 450 with 20hrs on it late last year for a good price. I'm not calling it a build, as it will be nowhere near the detail of some of the real builds on here.
My budget will be as much as possible without the missus finding out.
The first step starts tonight as my new suspension got delivery today. I'm hoping this process will take less than 2 months, as that's when the mx season starts here in Sweden. I will be riding and training on the bike during this time, so there isn't a huge chance that I will be scotch briting and sand blasting parts.
The main reason for starting this thread is to get you guys to chime in with tips on parts, setup, suppliers ect....I have pretty thick skin, so if you see something that seems strange or out of place, call me out on it. Cheers

A susaki needs yellow rims
This is only the start of the project, but I might have an old set of yellow rims laying around in the garage somewhere
The Shop
DeCal Works Huge Plastic Inventory of UFO and Polisport kits.
Luxon 4-Post Bar Mounts
$189.95 - $239.95
I had a RM250 in 2014, which I swapped with cash for a rmz450 while she was away visiting her family. I knew she would be none the wiser, just a yellow dirt bike in her eyes.
Once I get the exhaust sorted I will be sorting the mapping, this is where I need some guidance.
Also I will be weighing all the parts I change, so I can see the real difference between the air fork and spring. I already have the guts phantom seat and some ti pegs. I'm not going to go crazy trying to save weight, but if a few simple tweeks here and there save a few grams that will be good.
And btw I'm an Aussie too, living in sweden.
Glad to see you pulled the trigger and started a thread.
That suspension looks lovely, can't wait to hear how it rides!
P.s get some pics of the skid plate up
I work every week in Stockholm, as soon as I get my bike home from Spain I'll take my bike up and ride some Stockholm tracks on Wednesdays
I've looked at your build before, but didn't really take much notice where you were from, and now it makes sense how you can pour that much coin into your yz. I absolutely loved the disposable income I had before, and the missus wouldn't bat and eyelid when I bought bike parts in the past. I'm enjoying your build, and admire the dedication, like getting those fork lugs from Belgium, ti from the UK, sending parts to japan ect.ect.....keep it coming.
Pit Row
And a good part of this is your fault Russ, if I hadn't seen your build I probably wouldn't have started this. Thanks mate.Haha
Using my getto home made tire changer.
I'm gona do one ride on the stock suspension before I fit the kyb stuff. So I have some comparison, as I haven't put any laps on a track without ice and snow with this bike.
So I was happy to fit the kyb kit tonight, gona give them a test tomorrow on the same track, so it should be a good comparison.
