Hey guys. I'm going to Reno for the 2018 Ski Doo dealer meeting meeting Feb 15th-20th. Looking to take an afternoon off from the meeting and hit up one of the Resorts. I have heard Kirkwood is a great hill. Any suggestions for me ? I have skied all over the world, but have never been to the Tahoe area but have heard great things. Thanks in advance.

Squaw Valley or Alpine Meadows are the two best in my opinion.

If you're only going to have an afternoon then Kirkwood would most likely be too much of a drive from Reno (at least 1.5 hours each way). I'd suggest a closer resort like Mt. Rose, Northstar, Alpine Meadows or Squaw Valley.

This year, anything is great. Is this a strictly dealer meeting or a snow show type deal? Last week there were about 10 Canucks down here filming for this summers vids catching all our epic deep snow this year.

If so, Reno, Tahoe and area has some big name rippers also maybe you could get a sled and go ride with.

I'd hit Mt. Rose if all you have time for is a bit of ski and board action. They got about 20 feet of fresh last week and even though its warm, the snow level has been about 5,500 these last storms.
It's closest, highest and probably still the driest snow, but its been fairly warm in the mid 40s daytime.
Has all the terrain you could need. Wherever you are staying, check for the Free Shuttles to all the resorts also.

Mt. Rose is actually the non ski hill on the right. Slide Mtn has the runs.(Called Mt. Rose though.)

Those chutes on the left side of the saddle just slid a while back, and the road to along the middle to the left side slide bowl avalanched over. Its a bang up year in the sierras this year.

Luckily, about now on they probably wont get any more snow in the valley and even when they do its maybe 1-3 inches and gone once the sun comes up after about Feb1.

From the top, this your view of tahoe below also.

Another nearly 3 feet of new snow fell on Sierra Nevada ski resorts in a 24-hour period, and the city of Reno recorded one of its snowiest days in at least 80 years as the latest in a series of winter storms made its way through the region.

The National Weather Service said the 7.6 inches of snow recorded at Reno-Tahoe International Airport Monday morning was the 17th largest 24-hour snowfall since it started keeping records in 1937.

More than 23 feet of snow has fallen since Jan. 1, 2017 at several Sierra resorts, including Heavenly Mountain at South Lake Tahoe, California and Kirkwood Mountain Resort south of Lake Tahoe.

Stephanie Myers, a spokeswoman for Vail Resorts, which owns both resorts, said it’s the snowiest January ever at both of those resorts. She says more than 31 feet of snow has fallen at Kirkwood — a total of 381 inches — since Nov. 1. She says 365 inches has fallen since then at Heavenly Mountain. Northstar near Truckee, California has received 283 inches this month, and 376 inches for the season.

Thanks man. It's a dealer meeting for all the ski doo dealers in Northamerica. I sled and ski but I won't have time for a day of sledding.

Enjoy. Right now Mt. Rose has 40F partly cloudy and light snow.
Reno is 52 and mostly sunny. Most storms just kind of hang over the mountains while the valley has sun. Pretty warm spell.

Looks like this year we will be riding 365 days again this year.

If you're lucky, John Force and his family have their permanent residence in Incline and spend lots of time in winter playing around the local resorts. Summer too.

It's the tax haven for the clothing, cosmetic, and dot com Uber rich with 10-100 Million dollar lake homes. Nevada doesn't have state or corporate income tax.
I forget the name of the Indy Car guy who has his car in the window of his lake home. Its almost hard not to run into someone pretty well known.

If you are flying in, you might be able to see the Tesla Gigafactory from the air-To the East.
