Went to service my 14 RMZ 450 forks and ran into some problems

They were revalved by Factory Connection about 25 hours ago

First, the spring side fork oil was super thick... The manual calls for Showa SS19 fluid which Im pretty sure is 5wt according to some folks online. Oil breakdown? Why would it be thicker? Did FC just put thick oil in it to begin with?

Then the damper side- the free piston bushing was bent off where it was supposed to be and wedged up. Took a while to get the assembly out, the pic below pretty much what it looked like (moved it around a bit after finding it, then took a pic).

I dont think I can buy just a OEM replacement free piston/bushing but is there somewhere that stocks aftermarket ones (aluminum preferably) and are good? I think I found a place called rideJBI or something but not too sure.

Thanks

have you reached out to factory connection to see if they will send you parts?

the thick oil on the spring side I have no idea. maybe just what they use. the oil on the spring side is really just there to stop the spring from binding up so maybe the theory is thicker oil will stay on the parts better??????

I ended up buying a SDI aluminum free piston from RideJBI. Not a plug or anything but a cool place to order from, dude sounded like he knew his stuff.

The thicker oil makes sense, theres no damper in there so I guess the viscosity doesnt matter. Was goopy oil that stuck to everything so I can see how that would help. I put regular bel-ray 5wt fork oil back in there after cleaning it out really good so hopefully it still functions fine
