Hey guys I just started riding again after suffering a spine injury (car accident) only a few days after I bought the bike in late 2014. Had my suspension guy setup the bike for my height 5'6 and weight about 135lbs so I am a small guy. His setups always worked awesome on my 125s and 250fs. I am Pretty happy with my forks so far which most people seem to struggle with on the yz. The issue I have is mostly with the shock. It's good through the acceleration and braking process. Whenever I go through longer bumps/sandy rollers the rear just kicks up or sideways. I also find the rear kicking sideways on jumps or loosing contact to the ground whenever I come up a Little short on bigger tabletops which of course is always scary. I hope you can somehow figure what I'm trying to say. I also worked on gripping the bike with my knees alot more and running lower gears but it didn't help too much.
The tracks I usually ride at are sandyish. Not Lommel-like more like Glen Helen or maybe Spring Creek as far as I can tell from tv. Other than that I love the bike even though I'm a small guy. I've raced 15 years prior to my injury but was never too much into suspension since it always seemed to work right away after getting it set up or my dad did some adjusting and I've never been too picky on suspension when I was younger. That obviously changed...
First thing I was thinking is slow the rebound down 2-3 clicks in or so
I am not sure about the low- and highspeed compression and if adjusting helps.
I'm far of from being a fast guy just a regular weekend warrior who used to race some local and sometimes regional races years ago.
Settings I currently run:

Front
Forks: 8 mm into the clamps
Fork springs: 45 kg/mm
Compression: 12 out
Rebound:11 out

Rear
Sag: 105mm
Rear spring: 52kg/mm
Lowspeed: 12 out
Highspeed: 1,5 turns out
Rebound 14 out

Thanks for your help !

Sounds to me like you are blowing through the stroke too fast. Run the high speed in a half turn and the low speed in a couple clicks. For now, leave rebound alone.

It's not. He's doing exactly what I used to do in that he's thinking about tightening rebound. That seems to always be the thought process with us slow vets. He may have to go with more rebound eventually, but with high speed at 1 and 1/2 out, that's pretty loose. I think he's blowing through the stroke to quickly.

Thanks a lot Harry! I'll try tomorrow if I get to ride or saturday and check how it works.

Exactly what I was going to post. Give it a try and tell us how it went.

Go stiffer like the other guys said, but for sure 14 clicks on rebound is not enough on that bike and too fast. Go in a couple clicks and see how that feels.

i would go with faster rebound.. sounds like it is packing... does the bike make the big hop after several braking bumps or does it kick you directly after you hit the first one? if it starts off kicking i would probably soften compression unless you are bottoming which you should be able to tell right away..

oh and braking bumps are low speed compression
landing jumps and big hits are high speed comp.

I don't disagree with this, but I wanted to wait until after his ride report. He is very light for that beast. It could be a rebound ptoblem, but one thing at a time.

You're welcome. Please do give us a ride report.

In thinking about this, I'm quite sure your suspension guy went with lighter than stock springs when he set it for you. If that's the case, and you're a pretty good rider, you're definitely going through the stroke too fast with those settings. You can fix this with the clickers. Yamaha suspension is very adjustable with the clickers, especially when you have the correct springs for your weight and riding ability.

Unfortunately the weather killed my riding plans for today but the forecast looks good for the weekend.
After reading what Harry wrote I think it's mostly a highspeed issue and I'll adjust the lowspeed as well.
I might go in on the rebound later that day depending on how everything feels.
Braking bumps and acceleration bumps right out of a turn work fine. It's mostly the bumps in the middle of a straight that are deeper and further apart/longer.
I do have lighter springs in the forks+shock. The rear spring is an Öhlins, the rest is regular KYB.
I also checked the Racetech springrate calc. and they also advice the 52kg/mm spring which I'm running. Otherwise I probably wouldn't get the 105mm (4,133 inches) of sag.
I wouldn't consider myself as fast right now after being of the bike for two years. I only put 8.5 hours on the bike so far+I'm not pushing hard anymore. Just having fun and ride within my comfort zone.
Thank you guys for the help and I'll sure keep you updated on how it went.

The Pro Circuit link will help with tracking. Just put one on my 250f and I really like the change.
