But I don't see her succeeding at it for a few more years.
It will give her a good idea of what level she will need to be at though.

That girl is something special no doubt.

theres no way fiolek would qualify for a national at this point. look at the bike test in the latest transworld. Katie mcguires fastest lap was slower than swaps fastest lap, and swap is a VET B rider. Now I know that ashley is faster than katie, but no way is she fast enough to make it into the top 40 at a nat.

OK the only way to know is to compare times on the same day on the same track.

I did best lap times of the MX2 winner and the last placed rider in MX2 who did most of the laps.

GP of Bulgaria 5-11-08

Moto 1
Fiolek - 2:10.8
Cairoli - 1:55.6
Lupino 2:00.4

Moto 2
Fiolek - 2:22.9
Searle - 2:02.5
Bank - 2:07.1

GP of France 6-15-08

Moto1
Fiolek - 212.0
Searle - 1:53.4
Soubeyras - 2:00.6

Moto2
Fiolek - 2:05.4
Searle - 152.2
Rombaut - 2:02.0

GP of Holland 9-7-08

Moto1
Fiolek - 2:29.3
Rattray - 2:07.1
Coldenhoff - 2:15.9

Moto2
Fiolek - 2:41.1
Rattray - 2:12.5
Tyletski - 2:23.5

There you are.

Congrats to Ashley! Thats a mega deal for her.

On the subject of GP's, you have to give props to the Euro Girls

I think Ashley's best race result has been 3rd in the 8 races shes done (4 rounds)

Best of luck to her this year, hope she comes over for more GP's.

Its good she's got the passion to cross the pond to race!

Congratulations to Ashley - well deserved, great family. She has definitely stepped up the game in Womens Motocross ...

She's not to be underestimated ... but I know she's had some heated battles with Patterson ... and I know that when they combine womens classes with other classes at local races - most B riders easily pass Patterson and Geiger.

She has changed the face of women's motocross ... and it will only get better competition wise from here on out.

Why exactly do you think that she can't qualify? Simply because she is female?

No! Because her lap times aren't even close. Maybe she will make it .

If a bunch of guys stay home due to the economy and not being able to afford it.

So she can't get better?

Either way, I guess you didn't read her write-up in RacerX about that trip? Also, did her motos run before or after the Men's class?

Sure she can get better . So are the guys. What is a factory bike worth at a national? 2 seconds? I will wish her all the luck in the world . Having brought my daughter up in MX. No one would like to see a woman make it into a national more than me. But the only way I can see it happening If it's a post op male. Maybe one of Premixes Chicks.

So then, jet lag, strange bike, strange tracks, strange food, etc. count for nothing? You guys need to get over your swinging dicks. The girl is the real deal. She'll qualify. She has not failed to reach a goal she has set for herself yet. I believe it was Freestone where she was just 1 sec. off of qualifying for the boys. She has set that goal for 1-2 years down the road, so why don't you just leave the debate until then.....then instead of saying "she could never do it", you can say "I always knew she would".

OW38B, great post. solid information. none of this he said she says, i think, crap. ashley is super fast and has tons of talent. she has the best chance out of any girl trying to qaulify for an outdoor national, but, she will have to pick up some speed. with her under the honda tent, factory tuning and all that experience, not mention the guys under the tent that are racing now and then mentors( MC ) i wouldnt be suprised if she accomplished her goal in 2-3 years. hopefully sooner. we all want to see it, but she will need to find some speed first. thats all there is too it. it doesnt take anything away from what she has, and will accomplish.

Factory Bike?

I don’t think so. When I say this I mean no disrespect to Ashley and I believe she has done a great job at promoting our sport, but I really believe her factory Honda is going to consist of a $5000.00 set of kit suspension.

You guys just don't get it do you? It is a full factory bike. She has already ridden it and says it is amazing! Why would Honda press release her on the team and then give her kit suspension? Sheesh! Get over it! She got (earned) the ride you didn't.

WMA has run an intermission between the national motos for a couple years now. While Ashley and several women in the class are good riders, they are nowhere near national speed. At Freestone they were visually off pace of even the guys filling out the back of the 250F field. At Colorado they weren't doing many of the double sections on the track. It's a feel good story to think she has a shot, but the reality is something like Nate Adams trying to make the night program in SX.

What is there to get. It's my opinion and nothing more. If you think Honda is going to invest that kind of money into a bike to race the womens class then that's fine, it's your opinion.. I am sure she will get better stuff than Canard, Reardon, Metcalfe or Wharton which all run kit suspension.

As far as you conmment " She earned it and you didn't ?

Let me guess, you're a ten year old kid.

Yeah right, Jet leg, strange bike and strange food did not slow Ashley down 10 seconds a lap. Poor excuses.
I saw the girl(s) race at Lierop and was a bit disapointed in their speed. (Could have been the extremely rough track at Lierop though.) If Ashley would have been in her element and 10 seconds a lap faster she would have destroyed the WMA field, and she can't, she's not fast enough to beat Livia Lancelot by 30 seconds.
Don't get me wrong, these girls are fast, but I agree that none of the girls are fast enough to qualify for a National or GP.

Ashley is the real deal.
Out of the entire womens field I think she has the best chance between skill, support and desire.

She would have a fair shot at qualifying for a national.
Would she make it in?

It depends on the same stuff that it does for every other rider, but I think she would have a good shot.
I am a fan but Ashley would embarrass herself if she tried to race against the men. Ashley could not get through a district qualifier in A or B to race LL's and I would go as far to say She could not go top 10 in the the C class at LL's and I would lay money on it. If Ashley wants to race the men then she needs to earn her way by doing what the men have to do to get there Pro license.

Ashley has WMA speed not AMA Pro National Speed. BIG DIFFERANCE!!!!!!!

Being a Girl has nothing to do with it.

She is not fastest enough

Not strong enough

And simply has no right to be on the track with the men at a Pro National because she has not earned it by doing what is necessary to have a MENS pro license.

All Ashley needs to do is win a District A title or go top 5 in a the A or B class at LL's just like the men do.

There should be no loop holes for her.

Maybe she could take the easy route to get her pro license, possibly by qualifying for an FIM GP. Smile

Agree 100%. I hope one day she does make the "show" at a National..... If she picks up 10 to 15 seconds a lap.........she just might do it.
