What carb issues are you having? And what jetting are you running in the rest of the carb and what oil/fuel ratio are you running.

190 main 60 pilot. 32 :1 needle 28a. 3rd post. Runs great with needle in 2nd post. But real lean. Runs too rich with needle in 3rd. Boyesen reeds.

190 main!!! Wow!!! Stock is 185 and that's really rich!!
On a stock carb, with no engine work or pipe and Boysen reeds we would run 178 main, 55 pilot, stock needle in the middle groove and run 40-1. With good quality fully synthetic oil.

I'll have a look to see what needles ive got and what we can get. Seriously though, a 190 main is WAY to big. My 1980 motors have a serious amount of port work. Proform pipe, my own silencer, Boysen reeds. 168 main, 50 pilot. 40-1.
Irrelevant of any work done, start with stock jetting as you base setting. I can pretty much guarantee that the stock jetting will still be rich. Oil technology had moved on a massive amount since 1980, you can run them at much lower ratio's now with no change in the amount of wear. The less oil in the fuel, the richer the mix, the cooler they run, the cleaner and crisper they run. The more power they put out and the easier they are to set up.

Tried 55 pilot. Needle 3rd. Still sputtering at 1/4 throttle. Just going to have to go back and forth with it. Using vp c12 race gas.
