Moving onto a 250f

So last summer I bought a Honda 150f, previously I had rode a Baja 70 and a drz125 , I rode the 150f for the summer and I got into a little bit of racing and it quickly became apparent I didn't have the right bike at all being I'm 19 years old , 5'11" tall and 150 pounds , so I got a pretty good deal on a 2014 KTM 250sx-f this winter as I plan to ride in my local MX series this coming summer , I have only once at a Honda demo on a small track rode a 250f before and I could really use some tips on how to make the transition to a bigger more powerful bike . Regarding body positioning and gaining the confidence , I already know my riding style needs to change entirely as I'm going from unlimited traction wherever I go and no possibility of falling off the back to having to control wheel spin and wheelies , any input will be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance

when you go out just tak your time. take a few laps to get used to the power. make sure suspension and chassis are balanced out. 250'f s are relatively easy to control.

Update: First race weekend was a bust , knee injury prevented me from having any real speed or leaving the ground , also it was Gopher Dunes so the deep sand didn't help any , managed to come away with holeshot in both my Moto's but everyone passed me before a lap was over , will be looking for more advice I'm sure when I come off of next weekends race on a dirt track ! For now, does anyone have any comments on the difference between dirt and sand as far as launching the bike goes?
