Hey everybody, just wanted to put this out there, didn't get any responses from "Old School Moto" so I decided to post one here too. I'm planning a trip to Montrose PA. to ride at MX573 practice track on 4th of July weekend. I'm getting there Thursday night late and plan on riding all weekend. I will probably be bringing a bunch of my friends so the camping aspect should be great too. Just trying to spread the word and lets see if we could get a nice crowd up there this year. Business for Ed, the track owner, has been a little slow due to the gas prices so since this track is where it all started for me I thought I might help him out with trying to get a few more people up there this year. For those of you that have been there before you know the deal, bon fires at night, some fireworks, and alot of partying. http://www.mx573practicetrack.com/
I live in Upstate NY and this past spring me and 3 buddys were trying to get some riding in but we got about 4-5 inches of snow cover that week and the local tracks were closed.
So we call MX573 to see if there open and I speak w/ the owner on the phone who says "oh ya people were here today kicking up dust even by the end of the day, come on down" so the next morning me and my buddys meet at my house at 6AM make the
2 1/2 hour trip south to MX573 to find a track with pure sloppy mud that was over your shoes and ankles deep. Not a single sign of anyone riding there at all! Two of my buddys had new bikes and were'nt about to go trash them on the first ride so they were boycotting, me and my other buddy go up to the owner to see whats up and to see about getting some kind of reduced price for the day since the track was nothing like he said it was gonna be like the night before. He very rudely told me I'm lucky he does not charge me twice the normal rate cause of all the work it is going to take to repair the track, and for being provided the chance to ride in the spring time in the Northeast. Needless to say we never even unloaded the bikes and peeled out. We ended up driving another hour south to some little hokey backyard track and did our moto's there.
Not trying to hate on MX573 just telling you about my only experience at that place
