I'm gonna venture to say that most of us 'in the biz' are getting the same material from the same source.[/quote:2dpkhpoh]

That's what you think <img class= " title="Laughing">[/quote:2dpkhpoh]

I'll assume we're not the only ones who tracked down the manufacturer of the products that GMS distributes.

There is not much difference in these companies making these graphics. Two things seperate them, 1) what printer/plotter are they using? Is it thermal or four color printer or whatnot? 2) what thickness mil lamination are they using, 8 mil or 15 mil? I think places like Decal Work and such use 15 mil as they seem to be thicker and stand up to the abuse longer. These companies are making a killing with these graphics as it only costs about $2.00 a sq Ft to make. So in all, they have about $6-10 in materials in you design while the rest is labor for printing plotting and laminating. Design fees for custom work I hear run near $100 for your first set, thats just for the design, not including the other amount for the graphics. Some places are cheaper on that price some are not, but it doesn't take that long to lay something out. But these guys have to make it where they can because if they are making signs outside of the MX world, they are hurting right now with the way the market is going.[/quote:prk1gxye]

Sure there employee's work for free and the building was donated , machines are built with left over popsicle sticks.

100% profit work 2 years retire. give me a break[/quote:prk1gxye]

$139.00 for a full graphics kit for a bike = less then a hour of work, by far. You want to custumize it by throwing your name in there or your sponsors, ad 10 minutes to the job. Flexi or Corel or whatever most of these guys are using have the tamplete saved it all it takes is a few clicks of a mouse and 20 seconds of typing. So, ad in the labor time for that, weeding and laminating, and your cost may go up to say $15-20. As for overhead, there are many comanies out there that think they need the bigger shop, the newest machines and the flashiest truck all lettered up, if they are that worried about their overhead, they should go back to a smaller set up. But by the looks of it at these prices, their gaines are far more then their loses thanks to people who pay these prices.

This just in

Hooters is tired of collecting money for Beer and Chicken wings, from now on it's free. it's a Global thing
2/15/2008 1:52pm
That brings up another thing. Considering chicken wings cost a food chain about 20 cents each, why does Hooters insist on charging $15 for 20 wings? They've only got $4-5 in materials costs, and overhead for the restaurant is nothing. Plus they expect us to tip the waitresses. And don't get me started on the beer. That stuff is practically all free water, and look how much they get for it!

Beer is overrated, so are their wings. My point being.... everything is way over priced these days from graphics to bikes to the gas that goes in them. Everyone wants to get rich You would still make a great profit at $65-80 for a full kit and prolly get more business. I know I dont spend my money on fancy graphics for this reason. Stock graphics and with vinyl background and numbers covered with clear laminate all for a whole $15 a bike and still looks great. But hey, thats just my opinion, it's pretty clear people are still buying the kits, although by the looks of this thread everyone thinks they are paying to much as they all seem to be looking for the lowest price.

Tell me what manufacturer sells their stock graphics for less than $10 and I'll believe you. For that matter, a set of three numbers from the bike shop to stick straight on the plastic cost more than that.

Tell you what, go trace out every brand and size and model of bike, vectorize the patterns, draw up custom designs in at least five variations for every bike, buy the correct materials with the correct adhesive and thickness, along with a printing system (screen or digital I don't care) and I'll start buying full bike graphics from you for $65 minus my sponsorhouse discount of 30% you're going to give me.

I'm not sure anyone is going to jump on a request for being the cheapest around.

Email me about what you want and I can tell you what we charge. I believe our prices are reasonable. But we're not "cheap".[/quote:3ayvflau]

Can you do me some graphics with this on them .[img:3ayvflau]https://secure.norml.org/catalog/images/norml_logo_sticker_200.gif[/img…]

Probably not, since that's someone else's design that they are selling, and it's someone's logo. If you were NORML, or officially sponsored by them, that would be different.[/quote:3ayvflau]

Whoa, whoa, whoa that almost passed me by.
NORML?
They are still around?
Dude, I am an old man and I was smote down by an Assistant Principal in my home town of Dallas at the High School for wearing a NORML T-shirt.
My job won't let me "cook the herb" anymore due to analysis problems we seem to disagree on but i salute your efforts.

You must have Booby M on speed dial, eh?

I have been working for ROOST MX for about a year and a half now. We are just north of Atlanta and are picking up some steam down here in the Southeast. We, like the guy form Source said, are not the cheapest but the quality, fit and look is SUPERIOR!! You can check us out at [url:3d9izy2h]http://www.roostmx.net[/url:3d9izy2h]. Give me a call and I will give anyone who says they saw this post, a 10% discount. I know it isn't much, but I don't want to piss the bosses off too bad. :D
