Riding areas around Kansas City

Just curious if anyone knows of any areas around KC to ride. I live real close to merwin and kcmoto which are both great tracks, im just curious if there are any other areas around. I know there is knobby hill, dragoon, kingsville but I havent been to any of those. Also if anyone knows any areas to freeride I would appreciate if you could clue me in. We had a great place to free ride, big hill climbs, natural hills, quarry's, and really great trails, but that got shut down last year. Heard that the police are cracking down on keeping people off the land. Just wondering if there are any other "spectacular" places to ride around here...

You've pretty much named every place that I know of. I used to have a couple of places near St. Joe just like the one you describe but they've both been shut down after 40 yrs of being open to the public. I now ride a small private track that suits me well as its like a SX track with half size jumps which keeps the speed down. I've never cared for knobby hill. It gets no maintenance between races, it's hard as concrete and rough as hell.

I grew up in Lawrence and now live in Colorado. Been thinking about coming back and doing some riding. Do any of the tracks prep on a regular basis or are they pretty random? Midwest Extreme Park used to be fun, but it's been 15 years since I've ridden there.

Yes, kcmoto preps regularly and is very well maintained. By far the best track in the area. Kcmoto has a arenacross track, motocross track, atv/utv track, and a pitbike track. Merwin hasnt been open lately but they made some big track changes and are starting to have prepped practice here and there.

Merwin was redone and they got new management a few years ago. By far my favorite on that list! If the drive doesn't bother you, there is a really good track in Lincoln Nebraska called Abbott Mx. There are some good trails in topeka too if tracks are closed. I'll be down at Oakland trails tomorrow.
