kx 250 af

Hello everyone,

I'm getting ready to do a KX250 AF build and I wanted to know if anyone has experience with this and if there are a few tricks and tips to help make the build easier. My only concern is the frame as far a mounting the motor, where and where not to cut the frame to allow clearance for the exhaust, relocation of the mounts and what to do about the head stay. Another concern is how will the mods affect the flex characteristics of the frame. Is it even worth it to try the mods myself or just send it to a company that is already doing it.

Here's what I have for parts

2010 kx 250f roller
98 kx 250 for the motor (not sure if i should even bother with this motor or find an 02+)

Weld strength and quality should be your biggest concern.

1- Find a very good welder
2- Read on conversionparts500.com they have a good How to that apply to Honda but some subject will apply to all brand
3- measure the distance between the fron sproket center and the lower part of the frame.
4- Remove the 4-stroke motor and try to put the 2-stroke in without cutting anything and see how it goes
5- one you're ready align the motor left to right with the rear sproket
6- Check to align up and down the motor to have the same measure of the center sproket and the lower frame

when all this is done you can cut the frame.
