Well here goes,
in march this year i was riding home from my girlfriends house when a car decided to come head on towards me and not realise i was there, i managed to avoid a head on and got my bike just out the way enough so the car just clipped my back end, took me off the bike and i rolled off with my ankle hitting a wall (was wearing trainers very silly mistake) i suffered an open compound fracture with 3 breaks in my ankle and 2 in my tibia, the bone shot through the right notch on my left ankle, i was rushed to hospital where i had it straightened out and then had a metal plate with 6 screws in my lower leg and 3 screw plus a sypnosnosis screw stabilising my whole ankle. i had it put in a cast for 7 weeks then began trying to walk again, it was long and painful and as im flat footed it played havoc on my knee n stuff, however a few weeks later i had my bike out n began a bit of light green laning etc, still too worried to hit the track, Now november and quite cold in the united kingdon i hit the claypits thinking ride at my own pace but try get back to my original standard too, this would be my downfall... i hit a little bump in the clay, my bars wobbled and i knew what was about to happen, it bounced me off and i landed straight on the same ankle, this was a week ago to the day! im now in hospital with bent screws, bent plates, another 4 breaks in my ankle and 2 new ones in my tib, im sat here now with an external fixation holding my ankle in place, waiting on an operation , and thats where im at. i have no idea what happens now or if i will ever ride again? im pretty much wanting to know if theres anyone ever been through this?? or anything similar? id never give up riding even if i had one leg n one arm believe me i would find a way. Any info advice critisim i can get will be fully appreciated, and if i can give anyone any advise on my first tib/fib break or ankle dislocation then feel free to ask! thankyou,

As for leg injuries and getting back into a bike it's really up to you and how much you actually want it.
I am an amputee because of a motocross crash I had when I was 16yr old (I'm 29 now) if was in March 03 when the accident happened and my leg was finally amputated in June of 03 because of infection and over all pretty well destroyed my leg cut off circulation all kinds of fun stuff. I received my first prosthetic in September 03 and was back on the motocross bike by end of September 03 so it's really up to how much you want it. My accident was on my left leg(shift side) I ise no modifications to my bikes to ride I just learned how to do it with any bike I want to ride. Normally healing the shifter to shift up step down to shift down.
In all reality of the bones heal up enough you should be able to ride as for the ankle injury its really up to which leg it is that will determine what you're going to need to do to be able to ride
