Is this real? I am not trying to bag on obama, but is this real? Do people really think this is going to help things? Have we not learned anything from history? Isn't the government smart enough to realize that you can't simply just print money and throw it at the problem? So, where is this trillion going to come from?

Do you think that just printing money will fix it?

Change is coming!

I like this part the most.

There would also be some form of tax relief, according to the Obama team, which is well aware of the political difficulty of pushing such a large package through Congress, even in a time of recession. Any tax cuts would be aimed at middle- and lower-income taxpayers, and aides have said there would be no tax increases for wealthy Americans.

So where does he plan to get all that money?

Obviously not. What should they do? I'm sure they could use the answer.

I feel sorry for the team tasked to figure a way out to fix it, but it's their job, and I have to trust they can do it because me and you bitching about it sure as fuck ain't gonna change a damn thing. Why, because we don't dick about how to stop a country from entering a recession.

There is no quick fix. I'm just gonna buckle in and try to enjoy the ride somehow.

I feel bad for anybody that thinks they want to be president in these times. I dont think there is an amount of money you could offer me to deal with all that bullshit.

Your right. I wouldn't want to do it either. I would rather they did nothing to be honest. I think things would be better off if they let the market crash in the first place. Instead of delaying it. And, we're not about to enter a recession. We have been in one for sometime now.

No, thats not what got us here. What got us here is the mortgage/credit companies giving everyone more credit then they needed, the government telling mortgage companies to give out high risk loans, people thinking its their right to own a home, people taking way more credit then they should, buying shit on credit with no plans on how to pay it back. Thats what got us here. People not being forced to take responsibility for their actions is what got us here. And thats why the government bailing it all out isn't going to do anything except make us really in debt to other nations, and make our currency worthless. But, its okay, because as long as we keep firing up those presses and tossing good money at bad money, we'll all be okay.

"...The government telling mortgage companies to give out high risk loans..." is not true.

The Government did tell lenders that they could not cherry-pick nicer neighborhoods, better regions or higher income levels, but they never required lenders to make loans to high risk, poor credit borrowers.

Lenders are solely to blame for taking on and expanding sub-prime lending

Not word for word. But allowing them to do stated loans is high risk. The problem with all this is that its everyone's fault. Not just the governments fault, or just Bush's fault. Its everyone's fault and its everyone's problem. Everyone wants to point fingers and blame someone else while sticking their head in the sand. But, the bottom line is that this is America's fault and its America's problem.

Not a word at all, Matt
All the feds said was that lenders had to have fairness in lending and could not solely cherry pick the high income good stuff in the nice areas.
There is NOTHING in legislation or rules forcing lenders to lend to bad credit applicants.
No where.

Yes, there is blame all over, but that one statement you made is patently false

Sorry but I am not at fault so the rest of you can go suck a rotten egg. Wink

I'm pissed that once again the responsible person gets nothing while the dumbshits who are in over their head get "rewarded"

I may just not pay the mortgage the next three months so I can claim a hardship and have the government take care of me. I'm sure more than a few are taking advantage of this.

How do you do that? If I got 3 months behind Countrywide would foreclose.

nice simple anyalsis

Wall St bundling all these toxic assets into mortage backed securities had nothing to do with it, did it?

How about Wall Street selling side bets that they couldn't cover called credit default swaps on said securities- think that had anything to do with it?

You and Kalish keep right on thinking it's all the consumers fault, and things will work out fine for you

Sorry Crash, misread something and included it here. After searching, the only thing I could find is this, from a USA Today article : "To qualify, borrowers must be spending more than 31% of their income on mortgage payments. Loans made this year are excluded, except for those completed on Jan 1. Borrowers must have made six months of payments on their loans."
