Dark grey transmission oil kx 125

Hello, i was changing my oil on my kx 125 and then i saw the oil was darkgrey, so i was wondering if this could me wather or maybe the oil get dark grey from the clutch? I thought the oil was gona be light grey if wather came in it.

Pretty normal, especially for a 125. How many hours did you ride with the oil in?

Try steel clutch drive plates, vice aluminum. The grey oil isn't necessarily bad, just indicative of clutch plate contamination. Likely aluminum plates in there or a lot of time on the oil.

Use belray 80w gear saver. I use it in my kx125

I just bought the kx , so dont know the hours. Im having a service on it and changing the piaton and change oil, there wasnt much oil in the engine , maybe 400 ml. But i was just hoping its not water in the oil so i dont have to get more parts Smile thanks for the replyesSmile and btw , how many hours should i drive to next piston change and oil change?

It's really dependent on how the rider rides the thing with a 125. I use good oil and change it every 5 hours, back in the day I used regular oil mixed 50/50 with ATF and changed it every ride. For top-end, it could be anywhere from every 10 hours to 40-50 hours depending on how it's ridden (and as long as there is no pinging/has good jetting).

its fairly normal for well used oil in a KX125, I would not worry to much, when there is water in there it is very milky looking, and its not a big deal to change the water pump oil seal anyway,

as above a proper 2 stroke gearbox oil like Bel-Ray gear saver 80w is the best to use, but you can use a normal 4 stroke 10-40 mineral oil as well, I would not put a synthetic oil in however,
