My 9 year old wants an XBOX360 for Christmas. Apparently there are 3 different models, the XBOX 360 Arcade with 256MB, the XBOX 360 with 60 GB, and the XBOX 360 Elite with 120 GB of hard drive.

I know jack about video games. Which one do I need considering he is 9 years old and already has a PS2, PSP, Nintendo DS, and he and his brother are already getting a Wii for Christmas.

What do you use 120GB of hard drive for? Is the Elite worth the extra $200 over the Arcade model?

Why, because of the past problems that the XBOX has had? I thought they fixed those issues.

Think again. Mine is less than a year old and it's broke. Keeps saying the disc tray is open. It's under warranty, but damn it's less than a year old. If I would of really thought about it, I would of went PS3. Blue Ray, download movies, and play games? Damn X Box bet on high def dvds.

Not even close to being fixed.

Don't listen to these two, the xbox360 is just fine and only gives problems to those that constantly bash it.

Get the 60 GB one and you will have plenty of space on it. Unless you are going to download anything and everything on it the 60 GB will be way more than you really need.

i have the arcade and bought the bigger hard drive about a month after i got it. 60GB(+$50.00 just as much as the 360) is for sure enough but i got the 120GB it's up to u.
the elite however is mainly for someone who is looking to play online all of the time which costs money i would buy the Xbox 360 or get the arcade and upgrade the hard drive later. They dont have problems any longer but if you would like you can also buy a cooling fan that attaches in the rear for $20.00, not that u wud need it unless u play for hrs and hrs at a time. : ) hope i could help

Thanks for the info guys. It really helps. I will either get the Arcade or the 360 if I get one. It depends mostly on if these people buy my pw50 today.

XBOX 360 better than Playstation 3?
That is a matter of preference on what you are looking for.

Also a good question to start an arguement.

If you want a toy that will break and your kids will cry, then the XBOX is for you. If you want an awesome multimedia center, then the PS3 is your ticket.

After talking to the repair rep on the phone last week, they do have the overheating problem solved, or so he says. When I took it to the UPS store to ship it off, there were already two other ones there ready for shipping that day. They ship out twice a day and there were two when I went? Doesn't sound like the problem is fixed to me. Girl at the UPS store they get about two or three a week. I asked about the PS3, she said she has only seen two in the last month. Maybe PS uses another shipper?
Kinda of off topic, but what is Xbox Live? I'm guessing its online play? The guy from XBox said he would be shipping a trial to XBox Live. So it costs money to play online?? I know when I did it with Playstation 2 it was free. Is it still free with P?

When you make an account you get a month free. After that it cost money.

It is 100% free to play games online with a PS3.

Regardless of what any rep at Microsoft says, they have not fixed the 360. It's an overpriced paperweight. Oh wait, I forgot they cover all shipping costs for when you do have to send it in. You just sit there without a console for however long it takes to get it back.

ps3 is way better. the only good thing about the 360 is there is a ton of people that play online and it has some really cool games.

Well, we ended up getting the Xbox 360 Pro (60 GCool . I hope I don't regret it. I made sure to leave plenty of air space around the console to help dissipate the heat. Hopefully, we won't have any problems. I will also try to monitor the amount of time my kids play it to keep it from getting too hot.

He got the two games that it came with and then he got a bunch of games from our neighbor. No COD World at War but he does have Halo 3.

Not to be an ass, but I'm going to laugh my ass off when you come on here in the next few months or so and give us a sob story on how that pile of shit got the RROD.

We warned you. Should have done some research...or more/better of it if you did.

I've had -0- problems with the 360, it's been over a year.
The ps3 is a good console too, but far more online gaming with X-Box Live. Yes it's worth the $40.00 a year, you get what you pay for with Free online gaming.

Mine does weird shit somethimes. Like one time a buddy borrowed it and forgot to take the game out of it before he brought if over. Needless to say it got the three rings of death. We played it everysince then with no problems though. Its super importiant to keep it in a open place an stand it on its end. So it cools right. Get the Halo edition if you can they have been know to be better.

have both ps3 and the 60G 360 and no problems with either. Really a preference thing to me. some games I like better on one than the other, some better online games on one than the other, etc...

FYI, we've had the xbox360 nearly a year and haven't had any problems with it other than my kids fighting over it. Santa solved that problem yesterday. We got anther xbox360 for my other son. Now I have to get another copy of Modern Warfare 2.
