Sorry to hang you guys up I've been away at work for a few days. I didn't want to buy the head off you, what i meant to say was if you now have a 134cc will the performance gains that the head gave you on the old motor be superseded by the big cylinder?
Sorry for the mis communication Empty.
9/22/2015 3:10pm
No, it's cool mate, just thought i better wait just incase you did.

All things being equal, regarding volume and squish, all i'll be losing is the benefit of the extra cooling, nothing the cylinder can compensate for, should be ok though, seen lots of big bores without fancy heads ?

If anyone knows of a 1 piece upgrade head you can buy as a blank, it'd be good to know, better cooling can't hurt imo so would definitely consider one ?

I mean don't get me wrong it deff wouldn't hurt to get one if you wanted haha but in my eyes I save the money till I really need something haha that's just me though but good luck with that beautiful bike

It's all good, you're right, i certainly won't be racing it, it might see a dry practice track once a blue moon but that's probably it.... Haha,

Thing is, these days I get just as much fun fiddling with the thing as riding it, and am currently ok to spend whatever disposable income i have on myself, so i'm like it with all my hobbys and things i enjoy, cars, fishing etc, probably the only perk to getting old that.. Haha

Thanks for the compliment btw mate.

Plastics and graphics arrived, i screwed up the left side so waiting on a replacement... Also wanted the 12 front end, but got sent a 15 mudguard and 12 plate, didn't realise untill i'd drilled the mudguard... just need to send this one back and wait for the 15 one....

Also finalised the numberplate and airbox graphics today and gave them the go ahead, so they should be here soon.

Just waiting on the seat to be delivered, then i can fit the matching 3 stripe cover, should look badass, can't wait.

Waiting on the front numberplate, and still need to fit the right side rear graphic.. Also found the seat hump that came with the factoryFX TC4 seat cover so fitted it, feels weird sitting on it though, also makes the bike look too tall at the back so will pull it out i think,

Thanks mate, it's bright.... Btw, that last number i sent is the parcelforce one, just checked it.

Cool

redone the hump in the correct position for me and trimmed it smooth, new levers on, just waiting on the numberplate still... desperate to get it finished now, feels like it's been dragging on forever.

Man it looks incredible! Might have already been mentioned, but is that a flo-yellow front fender?
10/3/2015 9:58am
Thanks bud, so does your rm, you've done a good job on it for sure.

Yep, it's a 15 crf flo/neon fender, i wanted a 12 crf front end but got a 15 fender and 12 plate and didn't realise untill i'd drilled the fender, so 15 it had to be... think it's turned out better than i expected it to, i wasn't fully sold on it but now it's all on i'm happy with the look.

Saying that, the 15 plate turned up and is on, last photo bomb for a while guys, i promise..... Haha.

Hi all, long time lurker, first time poster... Thought i'd put a few pics of the current steed up, i'm sure it's not to everyone's taste...
Hi all, long time lurker, first time poster...

Thought i'd put a few pics of the current steed up, i'm sure it's not to everyone's taste but hey ho..

The story so far.. well, the condensed version is, after being without a bike for around 7yrs, me and a pal decided we needed a new hobby so thought we'd get a couple of cheap bikes and get back into going for a ride every other weekend, nothing serious, anyway, i ended up with a dog.... price was good, but that's about it.....

So, it's been an ongoing rebuild, bit at a time and use it inbetween sort of thing, still not finished, and probably never will be, i've decided i might aswell keep it forever now and have decided i want it looking brand new, the current 'to do' list is as follows,

All new bolts, nuts, axles etc to replace the rusty and rounded stuff,
refresh the calipers and replace the braided hoses as the banjo's have gone rusty,
New airbox and background graphics,
New oem plastic bits to replace the scuffed and discoloured original stuff, sprocket and caliper guard, brake hose clip etc.
Airstryker carb conversion,
Would love some A kit suspension for it, but realistically i'll probably end up with some crf showas, and hopefully that'll be it then.

So to date, this is what i've done,

Replaced all the chassis bearings, swingarm, linkage, shock and headstock,
Had the motor rebuilt, it's now a 134 with messed with crankcases, it's had a new crank assembly and main bearings, gaskets and seals, piston, head, reedblock, clutch hub, clutch kit (fibres/steels/springs), various oem parts like exhaust joint, rubber grommits etc,

Put a set of 06 forks on (preffered the colour)
New plastics, graphics, plastics bolt kit and seat cover,
New wheels, discs, sprockets, bolts, pads and bearings,
New bars and clamps,
New throttle and clutch cables,
New pipe and silencer,
Various tarty bits.
Sanded and polished the bottom end (will also do the barrel when i find a suitable replacement), cleaned up the swingarm with wet and dry, also did the linkage fork after removing the casting marks and gave the frame a clean up, that's about it i think, i'm on the home straight i feel, just need to sort the rusty bolts out and get some background graphics and it'll be presentable.

here's a few pics of it in it's various stages of transformation, i'll update the thread with progress, don't expect anything fast though, i must've owned it for 3yrs now and it's still not done.....

If you got this far, thanks for reading it,
Russ.

What pipe is that and where can I get one
Thanks

Here's mine.. I need exhaust , need exhaust don't want pro curcit or FMF and can't wait a month for custom.. Any help?
10/4/2015 8:49am
Can't see the pic, if you've added one ?

Being in the states i'd guess the only two brands you could get quickly would be the pro-circuit or FMF... This is a DEP pipe, you could also look into HGS or DOMA, or maybe even Bill's pipes might have something on a quicker timeframe ?

Hope that helps.

Thanks , i grabbed this through docwob imports, haven't seen them anywhere else in the uk, i guess it'll be the same story for you on availability, like you say mate, it'll be worth grabbing one even if you're not planning to use it straight away, can't see them being available for long ?

Nice bike, yep i've also heard the oem 03 kx125 pipe is the best on the 03 cr125, think you just use your cr silencer though, haven't heard of anyone using the kx one .

For the most part yes. Ours has a '96 HPP cylinder so a stock would be slightly different. Pretty easy to mod though if needed. We used both a stock silencer and now a Pro Circuit shorty......

Little update, bikes still not been used....

noticed coolant coming out the weep hole so thought i'd do the seal... that turned into a nightmare as the impeller bolt was rounded, and after carefully drilling that off it turned out the sharft had wear on it anyway......... so that 2$ seal turned into a complete water pump rebuild, as i was buying 90% of it anyway i ended up doing the bearings and separator too...

Also bought a new 07 airbox assembly and airboot, got a full oem gaskit kit for spares, and a few little odds and ends, rear brake hose guide, chanslider washers etc, and chucked on some clean oem footpegs and brackets i had kicking around..... back end looks super clean now, only problem is i'll have to get some new airbox graphics for the new one......

Nice good to see the updates from project bikes with their ongoing maintenance after they are done.
7/26/2016 4:09pm
Thanks mate, i'm sure you know from personal experience yourself that they're never really finished, there's always something you want or need to do lol.

Still want some decent suspension, brand new calipers and axles, titanium bits etc, i didn't lie in the title mate, it is the never ending build... lol

Hows the rm holding up, not seen your build thread for a while, due any updates ?
