125, and fyi the yz and KTM are the only 125's that are solid in the woods. Bottom and mid.
Know that you cant approach some jumps as your friends on their 250F's. Take your time with that. Pay attention to what these guys on here say regarding riding. These bikes and tracks should be taken seriously.

In 2005 the yz125 comes with an aluminum frame, in 2006 they got the SSS suspension which is the best you can get.
Between 2000-2005 the bikes came with steel frames and the suspension is not on par with today. Still great bikes though if they are clean. Plus keep in mind even if the engine has been rebuilt the bearings in the bike may be shot. Just be sure to look over the bike good.
I would suggest getting atleast a 2006.
The reason I said 2008 above is because there are a few minior upgrades between 2006-2008 such as triple clamps with removable bar mounts, lighter brake calipers, and different fork lugs small stuff.

Like say your buddy was jumping a double triple on his 450f... You would most likely have to double double single. Possibly 5 singles?

The 125 is the best bike to learn on IMO. 250f will make you lazy, plus they're not nearly as fun to jump. Plus yz 125s have a good reputation which makes re sale easier. KX 250f not so much.

You won't have the same drive/speed as a 250f when it is a short run up to the jump face.
Some riding lessons sound like a good idea. Keep you safe and make your learning curve a LOT faster. Weight the outside peg...
That's a humdinger of a tip....
