We got two good things going for us: 1) The Constitution (not that this population deserves it), and 2)Two big ass oceans that protected us from the European and Asian wars that destroyed their infrastructures and allowed us to develop ours while they were on their knees.


Truth is, we can learn a helluva lot from the Asian family cultures, including respect, honor, and the recognition that parents are treasures to be taken care of, instead of tossed aside so we can keep a nice big home.

He simply behaved the way he was taught.


Once when I was in Taiwan, I asked my friend why there was so little grafitti in heavily populated areas. He said it was because of rules. I assumed he meant laws, so I asked him what the civil punishment was. He looked at me and smiled, saying that it was rules in the house, not in the government, that prevents children from behaving that way.


Of course this is difficult to understand in America. We're a land of laws, expecting the government to correct our ills. The solution's right in our own home. But, we're too damn selfish to slow down and take the time to really teach our kids...gotta pay for that big ass SUV, which is what's really important.

You really should travel extensively to Asia. You'd be surprised to find out how well behaved and educated people in some of those countries are.
